This summer has proven to be a scorcher, not only with the extreme weather that has gripped much of the nation but also with hot economic news. With recent announcements like North Coast Logistics Inc. opening a facility in Macon, GA; Comdata adding 120 jobs in Brentwood, TN; Rioglass Solar locating a manufacturing facility in Surprise, Arizona; Sarargummi of Tennessee Inc. announcing a plant expansion in Pulaski, TN; Boeing locating a new facility in Charleston, SC, and many others; we can see that there have been no lazy days of summer where business and economic growth are concerned.

This issue of Expansion Solutions Magazine covers several key industries which contribute greatly to the health of the economy.  In our feature on aviation, Dan Hubbard, Spokesman for NBAA, discusses the value business aviation offers to companies and to the development of the communities in which they serve. Atlanta will be hosting NBAA’s 63rd Annual Meeting and Convention, Oct. 19th-21st, 2010. Expansion Solutions Magazine will be exhibiting at the conference. We are looking forward to interacting with the progressive companies who will be gathered there and to learning more about what is new in the world of business aviation.

Gerald Shankel, President and CEO of FMA, contributed our article on metal fabrication and shares information on how the green movement permeates throughout the metal forming and fabricating industry resulting in cost savings and the preservation of our natural resources. FABTECH will return to Atlanta this year. The event will be held at the World Congress Center from Nov. 2nd-4th, 2010. Expansion Solutions Magazine will be there facilitating business relationships, networking and learning more about this ever-changing industry.

Kathy Mussio, Managing Partner with Atlas Insight, offers an evaluation of the solar industry. In this feature article, she discusses factors which must be in place for the solar industry to become a viable and sustainable industry in the United States.

Also included in this issue is an article by Willard Berry, President of NAFTZ. He informs us about FTZs and how they can assist in creating jobs, increasing exports and making America more competitive globally.

Advanced manufacturing and agribusiness are vital industries both in the United States and around the world. In our feature on advanced manufacturing, we take a look at the importance of this industry in the U.S. and how our economy depends on the success of this sector. In our article on agribusiness, we discuss the obstacles and opportunities that America’s organic farmers face in today’s economic climate.

You will find these stories and more in this issue.  As a final note, we will also be attending IEDC in Columbus, Ohio held Sept. 26th-29th. We hope to see you there.
