04/22/09 -- Nash County, NC to Add Manufacturer, 134 Jobs

Rocky Mount  – Yesterday  LS Tractor USA LLC, announced their plans to locate in Battleboro, NC. LS Tractor USA LLC specializing in heavy equipment parts and supply, will open a headquarters, distribution and manufacturing facility in Nash County. The company plans to invest nearly $14 million and create 134 new jobs during the next five years that will pay an average annual wage of $41,500 not including benefits.

“North Carolina is a leader in heavy equipment manufacturing and service, thanks to our skilled workforce and business-friendly policies,” Gov. Perdue stated in a prepared announcement. “Our state continues to attract global companies looking for a strong commercial climate, an unparalleled quality of life and opportunities to provide the good jobs our citizens have come to expect.”

LS Tractor USA is a wholly owned subsidiary of LS Mtron Ltd., a heavy equipment manufacturer based in South Korea. LS Tractor will open a Rocky Mount facility that initially will import tractors from South Korea and distribute them nationwide. They will occupy the former Southwire facility in the Whitaker Business and Industry Center. The company then plans to expand in Nash County and begin manufacturing and distributing tractor implements.

“We are very proud to announce that we have selected North Carolina as the location of our U.S. headquarters. After looking at other states, we were very impressed with the educated and skilled workforce that North Carolina offers, particularly in Nash County,” said Jae-Yong Sim, interim CEO of LS Tractor USA.  “Our decision to locate in North Carolina also was based on the dynamic business climate that this state offers.”

“This is truly a great day for Nash County and the region. LS Tractor USA is a fine addition to the Whitaker Business & Industry Center.  We wish the company well in Nash County. Our door will always be open to assist you,” stated Robbie Davis, Chairman Nash County Commissioners.

“I am delighted that we are able to bring this high quality company to the Twin County Region. LS Tractor USA will be providing jobs with a good wage and benefits to the Nash and Edgecombe communities and that is so important” said Carolinas Gateway Partnership Chairman Frank Harrison.

Rocky Mount Mayor David Combs stated, “This is a great opportunity for the community, the regional workforce and to put the Southwire Building back in use. We look forward to a long and rewarding relationship with LS Tractor USA in Rocky Mount.”
