  • Nippon Paint (USA) Inc. will expand its U.S. automotive manufacturing footprint by investing approximately $60 million and creating 150 jobs
  • Top paint and coatings manufacturer will build 270,000-square-foot LEED certified manufacturing facility
  • New plant to produce automotive paint and coatings, including electrocoat (“E-Coat”) and topcoat to supply its automotive customers in the U.S., Canada and Mexico 

Chattanooga, TN -- Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bob Rolfe, and Nippon Paint (USA) Inc. CEO Tetsuro Fujita announced that Nippon Paint will invest approximately $60 million to establish a facility in Chattanooga.

Nippon Paint (USA) will create 150 jobs in Hamilton County over the next five to seven years.

$75 million capital investment will create 145 life-science jobs in the region

Madison, WI -- Catalent Biologics’ cell line development and biomanufacturing site in Madison is expanding with a $75 million investment expected to create at least 145 new jobs by the end of 2021, Governor Tony Evers, local leaders and company officials announced.

“We are grateful Catalent has decided to continue investing in Wisconsin and create opportunities in Madison,” said Governor Evers. “The numerous high-paying jobs created by this expansion will require an educated workforce to support new roles, which provides another example of how backing education in Wisconsin creates opportunities for businesses to grow and utilize our strong workforce.”

Specialty online retailer will retain 189 existing jobs and create 50 additional online sales jobs

Baton Rouge, LA -- Governor John Bel Edwards and BBQGuys CEO Mike Hackley announced the company will expand its online sales operation in Baton Rouge. Formerly known as, BBQGuys is an online retailer specializing in grills and smokers, outdoor kitchens, patio furniture and other leisure products.

BBQGuys will create 50 new direct jobs, with an average annual salary of $41,600, plus benefits. Louisiana Economic Development estimates the project will result in 22 new indirect jobs, for a total of 72 new jobs in East Baton Rouge Parish and the Capital Region. The company also is retaining 189 existing jobs.

  • Global insurance broker Acrisure to invest $33M and create 400 new, high-paying jobs in downtown Grand Rapids
  • Project is first in Grand Rapids area to win Good Jobs for Michigan support

Lansing, MI -- Acrisure, one of the top 10 insurance brokers worldwide, will be relocating and expanding its headquarters to downtown Grand Rapids with support approved today by the Michigan Strategic Fund including support through the Good Jobs for Michigan program. When completed, the expansion into the city of Grand Rapids is expected to generate an investment of $33 million.

Acrisure has also committed to creating and maintaining a minimum of 400 new high-paying jobs, above the current statewide employment level of 873, with an average wage of $74,464. Based on the size of the investment and number of jobs to be created, Acrisure qualifies for a Good Jobs for Michigan 10-year withholding tax capture valued at $6 million.

Savannah Achieves 16.5 Percent Growth in Container Volumes

GPA issues call to action for development         

Savannah, GA -- The Georgia Ports Authority achieved its busiest month ever for containerized trade in August, handling 437,750 twenty-foot equivalent container units. At the GPA Board meeting Tuesday, Executive Director Griff Lynch reported August volumes grew by 62,000 TEUs or 16.5 percent compared to the same month last year.
"We're seeing an early and strong start to peak season at the Port of Savannah," said GPA Executive Director Griff Lynch. "In addition to expanding trade on our regular weekly services, shipping lines are adding calls by sweeper ships to meet rising demand."

Monday, September 23 2019 to invest $10 million, establish U.S. headquarters

Richmond, VA -- Governor Ralph Northam announced that, a leader in providing high-performance blockchain software, will invest $10 million and establish its U.S. headquarters in Arlington County. Virginia successfully competed with Washington, D.C. for the project, which will create 170 new jobs over a period of three years.

Keurig Dr Pepper will operate a manufacturing facility at the site of the former Kraft-Heinz plant in Upper Macungie Township, creating 378 new jobs over the next three years.

Keurig Dr Pepper will operate a new state-of-the-art manufacturing and distribution facility at the site of the former Kraft-Heinz plant in Upper Macungie Township, a project that will create nearly 400 new full-time jobs in Lehigh Valley.

The company will invest $219.7 million into the new 1.5 million square-foot facility in the Park 100 Logistics Center, and has pledged to create at least 378 new jobs over the next three years, according to Keurig Dr Pepper and the office of Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf.

Eagle Aviation Technologies, LLC to expand manufacturing facility
Richmond, VA -- Governor Ralph Northam announced that Eagle Aviation Technologies, LLC, an industry leader in composites design and fabrication, will invest $207,500 to expand its manufacturing facility in the City of Newport News. The company will add new production equipment at the operation and create 75 new jobs.

“Innovative companies like Eagle Aviation Technologies have an important role in propelling our 21st-century economy forward, which is why my administration has made it a priority to support businesses of every size and in all industries,” said Governor Northam. “The success of the company has reached new heights from its growing operation in the City of Newport News, and we are proud that the Virginia Jobs Investment Program will bolster the hiring and training efforts for 75 new jobs being created.”

West Jefferson, OH -- Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Jefferson Industries Corporation (JIC) officials announced the company’s plans to expand its facility in West Jefferson, Ohio, creating 150 new jobs and investing $10.8 million. The Japanese auto supplier is a global manufacturer of automotive body frames. The news comes as Governor DeWine is visiting Saitama, Ohio’s sister state in Japan and home to Jefferson Industries’ world headquarters, alongside officials from JobsOhio and Columbus 2020.

“Jefferson Industries’ expansion brings new jobs at a cutting-edge automotive parts facility in the Columbus Region, boosting growth for both the company and Central Ohio,” said Governor DeWine. “JobsOhio and its partners continue to attract globally successful Japanese companies like Jefferson Industries that are prospering with Ohio talent.”

$12 Million Investment Creating 176 New Jobs

New facility will create 150 jobs, draw $20 million capital investment

Madison, WI -- Officials from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), local leaders and company officials celebrated a ribbon cutting as Huffcutt Concrete LLC officially opened its new facility in Lake Hallie, a $20 million project that expects to add 150 new jobs over the next five years.

“Huffcutt’s new automated precast wall panel boasts technology and manufacturing processes never before seen in the U.S. This technology will bring quality and service to a new level, elevating innovation in precast. We are excited to bring a broad range of employment opportunities to the Chippewa Valley,” said Huffcutt President and CEO Brian Seubert.

WEDC is supporting the project by authorizing up to $1.25 million in state income tax credits over three years. The actual amount of tax credits Huffcutt will receive is contingent upon the number of jobs created and the amount of capital investment during that period.

Legal Software firm to create 20 new direct jobs, with $65,000 Average Salary, by end of 2020

New Orleans, LA — Governor John Bel Edwards, Mayor LaToya Cantrell and Litify founder Reuven Moskowitz announced the company will open a new regional office in New Orleans and create 20 new direct jobs by the close of 2020.

Expansion adding 63 new jobs at Summerville, S.C. facility
Columbia, SC -- DC Machine, an industrial design and machining center that manufactures close tolerance components, is expanding its existing Dorchester County operations. The company's investment of $9.5 million is expected to create 63 new jobs.
Since DC Machine established its first 250-square-foot facility in Dorchester County in 2004, the company has grown tremendously. An expansion in 2015 increased operating size to 17,000 square feet and added 17 new jobs.
DC Machine's current expansion includes the purchase of an existing building, located at 2735 W. Fifth North Street in Summerville and increases operational space by more than 61,000 square feet. This expansion will allow the company to grow production of existing product lines and expand into others.

Governor & First Lady conclude economic development trip to Japan and South Korea, highlighting importance of global relationships
