Kenosha, WI — Southeastern Wisconsin will expand its food and beverage industry footprint as Gourmet Foods International opens its newest 35,200-square-foot distribution center in Kenosha in March 2016.
The warehouse, located in the Business Park of Kenosha, is the first Midwest location for the Atlanta-based cheese distributor. The new location will allow the company to service the Milwaukee, Chicago and Minneapolis markets, and is the company’s seventh location nationwide.
“Southeast Wisconsin is one of the best locations in the nation for advanced food processers,” said Kenosha County Executive Jim Kreuser. “Gourmet Foods is in good company and we look forward to helping them thrive here.”
To support Gourmet Foods’ expansion, the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) awarded the company $200,000 in performance-based tax credits and Kenosha Area Business Alliance provided $1.1 million in financing.
FaB Wisconsin, Wisconsin’s statewide food and beverage industry cluster consortium based in Milwaukee, played a critical role in Gourmet Foods’ understanding Wisconsin’s sector leadership in food and beverage, and ultimately in the company’s decision to site their new facility in Kenosha.
