Georgia’s Liberty County has had three new companies announce plans for new facilities since the first of the year, setting the stage for nearly 300 new jobs when the projects are completed.
“We’re quite pleased with the new projects that will add 8 percent to our 4,000-plus industrial jobs,” Liberty County Development Authority CEO Ronald Tolley, CEcD, said. “And with the increased inquiries we’ve been handling it appears the successes will continue.”
All of the projects are being constructed in Tradeport East Business Center, LCDA’s premiere industrial park, which is a half mile off Interstate 95 at Midway. They are:
- Seohan Auto Georgia, an affiliate of South Korea’s Seohan Group, is investing $72 million in a 490,000 SF building (expandable to 750,000) on 65 acres. They expect to employ 180 people. The Tier-1 automotive parts supplier to the recently announced, nearby Hyundai Mega Site assembly plant will produce H/shafts, axles and brake systems.
Seohan Auto Georgia’s initial factory in Liberty County’s Tradeport East Business Center will be nearly 500,000 square feet with room for expansion. - Creative Home Ideas expects to create 70 news jobs in a 350,000-SF expandable building. Creative Home Ideas parent company, YMF is investing $15 million in the project and will assemble decorative pillows. The announced work is the first phase of a larger plan that could bring more investment and create more jobs to Tradeport East.
- Palatize Inc., an ecommerce retailer that is one of Amazon’s top 300 sellers. Two brothers, who started the business six years ago, are having a 33,000 square foot building erected. They employ 20 people, all who will be moved from a smaller facility in a neighboring county. The building is expandable and the owners plan to increase employment too.
Palatize expects to complete construction this year and begin operations early in 2024. The other two expect to complete work on their facilities in 2024 and start production soon thereafter.
