Project expected to provide more than $5 million in economic impact to Harrison economy
Harrison, AR — North Arkansas College and Entegrity Energy Partners of Little Rock agreed to a $1.7 million energy performance contract through the Arkansas Energy Performance Contracting (AEPC) Program which will implement efficient LED lighting technology, replace and improve HVAC equipment, and replace critical roofing infrastructure damaged in a recent storm. The project is expected to provide more than $5 million in economic impact to the Harrison economy while generating significant energy savings.
The energy performance contract will have a 15-year payback and is fully funded by guaranteed energy savings. North Arkansas College will be able to finance the project through annual savings currently being spent on utility costs.
“The costs savings generated through this program and the quality services of Entegrity Energy Partners not only provided for the reduction of energy consumption and operational efficiency, but afforded the means to address critical deferred maintenance projects that would not have been possible otherwise,” said Don Sugg, chief financial officer of North Arkansas College.
North Arkansas College and Entegrity worked hand-in-hand with the Arkansas Energy Office (AEO) to develop the project. AEO offers assistance to state agencies, institutions of higher learning, municipalities and counties through its seven-step energy performance contracting program.
The upgrades, scheduled for completion by October 2016, will include:
- Lighting: Upgrade of 4,900 fixtures to LED technology across North Arkansas College’s three campuses.
- Roofing: Installation of a new roof at North Arkansas College’s North Campus.
- HVAC: Tune-ups and unit replacements across campus.
- Water Conservation: 440 low-flow fixture installations.
“This project, under the oversight of the Arkansas Energy Office and Program Manager Chet Howland, was very easy to implement due to clear and concise program procedures and step-by-step guidelines,” continued Sugg. “The AEPC Program delivers with ongoing energy conservation, continuing costs savings and immediate facility improvements, a triple win situation.”
