Global Medical Device Leader to Create Up to 300 High-Wage Jobs in Plainfield
INDIANAPOLIS (June 3, 2026) — Indiana Governor Mike Braun announced that Boston Scientific Corporation, a global leader in medical device technology, will establish a new distribution and logistics operation in Plainfield, Indiana. The company plans to invest approximately $138 million to construct and equip a new facility that will create up to 300 high-wage jobs and expand capacity for the global delivery of medical devices.
The project will strengthen Indiana’s growing life sciences sector and support the state’s broader BioHeartland initiative, which is focused on advancing human, animal and plant health through innovation, production, logistics and commercialization.
“Indiana’s commitment to further advancing our already robust life sciences sector continues to pay dividends as we welcome Boston Scientific to Plainfield,” said Governor Mike Braun. “This new facility can bolster the state’s global leadership in life sciences and medical device innovation while creating hundreds of high-skilled, high-wage jobs, providing more opportunities for Hoosiers to advance their skills, grow their careers and provide for their families.”

Investment Strengthens Indiana’s Life Sciences Sector
Boston Scientific’s investment aligns with Governor Braun’s life sciences initiative, a $1 billion commitment over 10 years to advance Indiana’s agricultural and life sciences industries. The initiative aims to create 100,000 high-wage jobs and position Indiana as a premier destination for human, animal and plant health innovation.
The strategy builds on Indiana’s concentration of global companies, research institutions, innovators and advanced manufacturing capabilities. By advancing research and development, commercialization, production and logistics, the state is working to strengthen its leadership in life sciences and attract highly skilled jobs.
Plainfield Innovation Park Supports Advanced Logistics and Manufacturing
Plainfield’s location, infrastructure and connectivity continue to make it a strong destination for advanced logistics, life sciences and manufacturing operations. Boston Scientific’s new facility will further validate the town’s strategy to develop a south of I-70 innovation corridor focused on long-term business investment and quality-of-place growth.
“Boston Scientific’s investment may be transformational not only for Plainfield, but also for the future of the BioHeartland,” said Robin Brandgard, president of the Plainfield Town Council. “This project validates the vision behind our south of I-70 innovation corridor, where advanced logistics, manufacturing and life sciences can thrive together with strategic infrastructure, connectivity and quality-of-place investments. As we continue expanding entertainment, recreation and outdoor destinations, including our more than 1,800-acre park system, we are intentionally building an environment where companies, talent and families want to invest for generations.”
Indiana Builds Momentum as a BioHeartland Leader
The Boston Scientific project adds to Indiana’s growing momentum as a hub for medical device innovation, life sciences logistics and advanced manufacturing. With access to a strong workforce, major transportation networks and a growing base of life sciences companies, Indiana continues to position itself as a strategic location for companies serving global health care markets.
The Plainfield operation will help expand Boston Scientific’s distribution capacity while supporting Indiana’s goal of becoming a national and global leader in life sciences investment, job creation and innovation-driven economic development.
