Global biopharmaceutical company will create nearly 500 jobs at Generation Park in Harris County
AUSTIN, Texas (August 13, 2026) – Bristol Myers Squibb will invest approximately $2.3 billion to establish a new pharmaceutical manufacturing campus at Generation Park in Houston, creating nearly 500 jobs in Harris County.
The project represents a major addition to Houston’s expanding biotechnology and life sciences sector while strengthening domestic manufacturing capacity for innovative medicines.
A performance-based Texas Enterprise Fund grant of $4.89 million has been extended to Bristol Myers Squibb. The project also qualifies under the Texas Jobs, Energy, Technology and Innovation program.
“Texas is a global hub for life sciences, where today’s innovations shape the future of healthcare,” said Gov. Greg Abbott. “This $2.3 billion investment by Bristol Myers Squibb in the dynamic biotech ecosystem in Houston is a testament to the depth of our skilled workforce and the pipeline of talent coming through our nation-leading technical colleges and research universities.”
New Houston Campus Will Expand U.S. Pharmaceutical Manufacturing
Bristol Myers Squibb is a global biopharmaceutical company focused on discovering, developing and delivering medicines for patients with serious diseases.
The Houston project is part of the company’s broader $40 billion commitment to expand its operations and manufacturing capabilities in the United States.
“This investment reflects our confidence in America’s continued leadership in biopharmaceutical innovation,” said Christopher Boerner, Ph.D., board chair and CEO of Bristol Myers Squibb.
“As part of our $40 billion commitment to the United States, we’re building the domestic manufacturing capabilities needed to deliver the next generation of medicines and support future scientific breakthroughs,” Boerner said. “Houston and the state of Texas offer the talent, infrastructure and partnership needed to help bring that vision to life.”
Bristol Myers Squibb Selects Generation Park
The new pharmaceutical manufacturing campus will be located at Generation Park, a major commercial development in northeast Houston.
Generation Park officials said Bristol Myers Squibb’s selection validates the development’s role as an emerging destination for life sciences and advanced manufacturing projects.
“We proudly welcome Bristol Myers Squibb, another leading global pharmaceutical company, to Generation Park,” said Jennifer Mott, executive director of the Generation Park Management District.
“This highly competitive process validates the role our site plays as a vital life science asset both in Texas and nationally,” Mott said. “Our commitment to critical investments in infrastructure and a curated ecosystem continues to attract high-value industry clusters that drive long-term prosperity for the region.”
Project Creates Nearly 500 Houston-Area Jobs
The pharmaceutical manufacturing campus is expected to generate nearly 500 jobs while creating new career pathways for residents and students in the surrounding community.
“Sheldon Independent School District is excited about the opportunities Bristol Myers Squibb will create for student success and future career pathways,” said Dr. Demetrius McCall, superintendent of Sheldon ISD.
“Investments like this help connect classroom learning to real-world opportunities, preparing our students to thrive in a rapidly growing and innovative economy,” McCall said. “We believe the impact of this project will open doors for generations of students and families for many years to come.”
Investment Strengthens Houston’s Life Sciences Economy
Regional leaders said the project will further establish Houston as a national center for pharmaceutical manufacturing, biotechnology and life sciences innovation.
“Bristol Myers Squibb’s announcement is a tremendous win for Texas and the Houston region, further reinforcing our position as a premier destination for life sciences and advanced manufacturing,” said Steve Kean, president and CEO of the Greater Houston Partnership.
“Supported by world-class talent, infrastructure and industry expertise, this investment will create hundreds of high-quality jobs and strengthen Houston’s standing as a leading hub for life sciences innovation and investment,” Kean said.
Texas Incentives Support Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Project
The Texas Enterprise Fund is a performance-based financial incentive administered by the Texas Economic Development and Tourism Office within the Office of the Governor.
The program may provide grants to qualifying business expansion or relocation projects when a Texas location is competing with sites in other states. Eligible projects must create new jobs and generate significant capital investment.
The Texas Jobs, Energy, Technology and Innovation program was created through House Bill 5 during the 88th Regular Legislative Session. JETI is designed to attract large, capital-intensive economic development projects that bring new investment and quality employment opportunities to Texas while maintaining reporting and transparency requirements.
