BKCEDC recognizes University of Texas students and local employers participating in the 2026 workforce development program
BOERNE, Texas (August 14, 2026) — The Boerne Kendall County Economic Development Corporation recently recognized the students and employers that participated in the 2026 Home to Texas internship program, an initiative connecting local talent with career opportunities in Kendall County.
BKCEDC hosted its annual Home to Texas Intern Reception on July 30 at Sunny’s All Day Brunch & Bar. Interns, employers, community leaders and program partners gathered to celebrate the initiative’s impact on students, businesses and the region’s workforce.
Connecting Students With Local Careers
The Home to Texas program matches University of Texas students with employers in their hometown communities. Through paid summer internships, participants can:
- Gain meaningful professional experience
- Develop practical workplace skills
- Build relationships with local employers
- Explore career opportunities close to home
- Contribute to their hometown communities
The program also helps Kendall County employers establish relationships with the next generation of professionals before they graduate.

Four Kendall County Employers Hosted Interns
Four BKCEDC member organizations participated as host employers during the 2026 program:
- Agave Design Studio
- Morningside Ministries
- Prytime Medical Devices
- SEnergy
Throughout the summer, interns gained hands-on experience, built professional relationships and learned about industries contributing to Kendall County’s economy.
Planning Begins for the 2027 Program
With planning underway for summer 2027, BKCEDC is inviting interested businesses to learn more about becoming Home to Texas host employers.
Rising college sophomores with roots in Kendall County are also encouraged to explore the program and consider returning home to gain professional experience next summer.
