Automotive supplier will upgrade two existing plants and build a third to expand hybrid vehicle powertrain production.
ATLANTA (October 8, 2026) — Hyundai Transys plans to invest nearly $560 million to expand its manufacturing operations in West Point, Georgia, creating 320 new jobs and increasing production capacity for electrified powertrains used in hybrid vehicles.
The investment will support upgrades to plants one and two and construction of a third plant at the company’s manufacturing campus at 6801 Kia Parkway. The expansion will strengthen Hyundai Transys’ ability to serve global automotive customers with operations in North America.
Hyundai Transys currently supports approximately 1,250 jobs at its West Point facility. The new investment builds on the automotive supplier’s longstanding presence in Georgia and its partnership with the local community.
Expanding Georgia’s Hybrid Powertrain Manufacturing Capacity
Governor Brian P. Kemp said the project reinforces the Hyundai family of brands’ partnership with Georgia and will further strengthen the state’s automotive manufacturing ecosystem.
The expansion reflects Hyundai Transys’ continued investment in advanced manufacturing as its customers increase demand for hybrid vehicle technology.
Jaekyun Choi, president of Hyundai Transys Georgia Powertrain, credited Georgia’s workforce development infrastructure, business environment, and growth opportunities with supporting the company’s investment. He described the expansion as an important milestone in its long-term partnership with the state.
Choi said Hyundai Transys will continue building manufacturing capabilities that prioritize safety and quality while delivering value to customers and surrounding communities.

Troup County Commission Chairman Patrick Crews also recognized Hyundai Transys’ continued investment and community partnership, saying the county looks forward to the company’s ongoing growth.
State and Local Partners Support Expansion
Alyce Thornhill, director of project implementation and supplier strategy for the Georgia Department of Economic Development’s Global Commerce team, represented the department on the project. Partners included the City of West Point, Georgia Quick Start, and Georgia Power.
GDEcD Commissioner Pat Wilson pointed to Georgia’s longstanding relationships with Korean companies, business policies, and workforce training as factors supporting continued investment. He thanked Hyundai Transys and the partners involved in making the expansion possible.
