HUNTINGTON, Ind. (April 14, 2026) — Indiana Governor Mike Braun will join local officials and company executives to break ground on Hanjung America’s first U.S.-based manufacturing facility in Huntington, marking a significant investment in the state’s growing energy storage and electric vehicle supply chain.
The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Riverfork West Industrial Park, where Hanjung America will establish operations on a 133-acre site. The company plans to manufacture advanced Energy Storage Systems (ESS) to support the rapidly expanding electric vehicle and renewable energy sectors.
Announced earlier this year, the project will play a key role in strengthening Indiana’s clean energy ecosystem. Hanjung America’s products will support the supply chain for the Stellantis and Samsung SDI StarPlus Energy electric vehicle battery operations in Kokomo, as well as broader energy infrastructure development across the state.
Hanjung America, a subsidiary of South Korea-based Hanjung NCS, expects to begin operations in June 2027. The project is projected to create more than 440 jobs in the coming years, further reinforcing northeast Indiana’s role in advanced manufacturing and next-generation energy technologies.
Governor Braun will be joined at the event by Huntington Mayor Richard Strick and leadership from Hanjung America.
