Lincoln I-80 Industrial Site
Lincoln, Nebraska — Lincoln Partnership for Economic Development has launched the Lincoln FastTrack Certified Sites Program, a new initiative designed to help industrial projects move faster, reduce development risk, and strengthen the city’s competitiveness for new business investment.
The program is aimed at identifying and promoting development-ready sites for advanced manufacturing, logistics, and other targeted growth industries throughout the Lincoln region. By pre-qualifying industrial locations through a structured certification process, Lincoln hopes to shorten timelines for companies evaluating expansion or relocation opportunities.
FastTrack certification is awarded to properties that complete a defined set of readiness standards confirming they are primed for development and prepared for investment. Sites are proactively reviewed for key project considerations including zoning, utility capacity, environmental conditions, transportation access, and overall feasibility.
The program includes two certification tiers:
- Tier One: Prepared — Sites meeting baseline criteria for industrial development and positioned for near-term opportunities.
- Tier Two: FastTrack Certified — Sites that build on Tier One standards with additional due diligence measures designed to further reduce risk and accelerate project delivery.
According to LPED, the initiative is intended to:
- Speed up project timelines
- Improve predictability for site selectors and investors
- Showcase shovel-ready locations
- Strengthen partnerships with landowners and utility providers
- Increase Lincoln’s win rate for competitive projects
Tom Beckius said speed and certainty are often the deciding factors in economic development decisions, noting that the FastTrack program positions Lincoln to compete more effectively by removing barriers early in the site selection process.
The launch reflects a broader national trend as communities invest in site readiness and certified property programs to meet growing demand from manufacturers, distribution operators, and supply chain users seeking locations that can move quickly from announcement to construction.
Property owners and development teams interested in certification may apply through the LPED program portal.
With FastTrack now underway, Lincoln is expanding its inventory of investment-ready industrial sites and strengthening its appeal for future business growth across the Midwest.
