Indiana medical device manufacturer will expand hospital bed production and support a nationwide contract serving Veterans.
BATESVILLE, Ind. (October 16, 2026) — Med-Mizer will invest $9 million to expand its manufacturing operations in Batesville, Indiana, creating up to 73 new high-wage jobs in the coming years. The investment will increase production of hospital beds and safe patient handling solutions while supporting a recently awarded contract to serve Veterans nationwide.
Governor Mike Braun announced the expansion, which will more than double the Indiana-founded company’s current workforce.
Expansion Adds Equipment and a Second Shift
Med-Mizer will upgrade its existing 40,000-square-foot facility at 80 Commerce Drive, purchasing machinery and equipment and retrofitting the space to accommodate increased production and a second shift.
The expansion will strengthen the company’s capacity to manufacture hospital beds and patient handling products for hospitals, hospice providers, long-term care facilities, rehabilitation centers and home care settings.
Braun said the investment reflects Indiana’s skilled workforce and business climate while supporting the growth of a Veteran-founded manufacturer with established roots in the state.
VA Contract Supports Manufacturing Growth
The Batesville expansion will also support Med-Mizer’s fulfillment of a five-year, sole-source contract with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs through its partner, DiSorb Systems.
The contract covers at-home hospital beds, support surfaces and related accessories for Veterans across the country. Increased manufacturing capacity will help Med-Mizer meet that demand while continuing to serve healthcare providers and caregivers.
CEO Brian Roth described the investment as a significant step in the company’s growth, expanding its American manufacturing capabilities and creating career opportunities in the community where it was founded.
Roth also emphasized the significance of serving Veterans as a Veteran-founded business, noting that the contract strengthens the company’s ability to support patients and caregivers nationwide.
Hiring Underway for Batesville Manufacturing Jobs
Med-Mizer has already begun hiring for positions across manufacturing, engineering, technical support, quality, shipping and customer service. Additional opportunities are anticipated as production increases.
The new jobs are expected to pay average wages equal to 134% of the Ripley County average—approximately 34% above the county average.
Indiana Secretary of Commerce Chuck Goodrich said Med-Mizer’s decision to expand locally represents an investment in Indiana workers and the Batesville community, with benefits extending to the broader state economy.
More Than Two Decades of Healthcare Innovation
Founded in Batesville in 2003, Med-Mizer develops hospital beds and safe patient handling solutions designed to improve patient comfort, safety, mobility and independence.
Its products are used in thousands of homes, hospitals and care facilities nationwide. The company focuses on helping patients maintain mobility while supporting the caregivers responsible for their care.
The $9 million expansion will build on that foundation, increasing production capacity and positioning Med-Mizer to meet growing demand across healthcare and Veteran care markets.
