The Pflugerville Community Development Corporation (PCDC) announced that they have been awarded reaccreditation from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) as an Accredited Economic Development Organization (AEDO). The IEDC recognized the PCDC as a recipient of the accreditation at the IEDC’s Annual Conference hosted in Oklahoma City, September 18-21, 2022. The PCDC becomes only one of 70 economic development organizations to receive accreditation internationally, and only one of 12 in Texas.
“This achievement confirms PCDC’s position as a leader within the economic development profession,” Mayor Victor Gonzales said. “This reaccreditation lets site selectors, business investors, local governments, and stakeholders know that when working with Pflugerville they can count on us to follow the highest professional standards and best practices to promote growth and opportunity.”
The AEDO program is a comprehensive peer review process that measures economic development organizations against commonly held professional standards. The program consists of two phases: a documentation review and an on-site visit. Each phase is designed to evaluate information about the structure, organization, funding, programs, and staff of the candidate economic development organization.
According to the IEDC, earning the AEDO accreditation distinguishes the PCDC among its economic development peers and shows not only future prospects but the community, that the PCDC has attained a measure of excellence and assures that only the most responsible economic development takes place within the community.
“Exhibiting professionalism and excellence are core values within our organization, but to receive recognition for these efforts from the International Economic Development Council is not only an honor but the direct result of leadership and guidance we receive from the PCDC Board and City Council.” PCDC Executive Director Amy Madison said.
The PCDC first achieved AEDO certification in 2019. Maintenance and review of the AEDO status are required every three years and are accomplished through continued documentation submission and/or on-site visits by a team of the AEDO subcommittee from IEDC to ensure best practices are maintained by accredited organizations.
