On June 22nd, Chairman Ravi Singhania, announced the formation of a new Environmental, Social, Governance, and Sustainability (ESG&S) Committee of the Port Commission. The Port plays a valuable role in the health and viability of the local and regional economies and takes its role very seriously as an active community partner and steward of the environment.
“We are pleased to institute this new ESG&S Committee of the Port Commission”, said Chairman Singhania. “This is an important step which reflects our commitment to implementing leading ESG&S practices across the Port’s business with added focus on being sustainable and socially responsible. This endeavor creates sustainable opportunities for people, businesses and communities that we represent.”
The ESG&S Committee will work with management and the Port Commission to incorporate relevant sustainability and ESG matters into all aspects of the Port including governance, strategy, decision-making, risk management, and accountability reporting to stakeholders. This committee will be chaired by Commissioner Barbara Fratila.
With the creation of the ESG&S Committee, the committees of the Port Commission have been expanded to five, which include the Finance and Audit Committee, Capital Planning Committee, Operations, Safety, and Security (OSS) Committee, and Personnel Committee.
