Fifth-generation agricultural business will build a 60,000-square-foot egg grading facility and expand swine operations in Orange County.
ORLEANS, Ind. (October 16, 2026) — River View Farms will expand its egg and swine operations in Orleans, Indiana, creating up to 63 new jobs by the end of 2029. The fifth-generation, family-owned agricultural business plans to increase production capacity, strengthen food safety and generate additional opportunities for local grain growers.
Announced by Governor Mike Braun, the project represents one of Orange County’s most significant business expansions in recent years and builds on the company’s more than century-long presence in the community.
New Egg Grading Facility to Double Capacity
River View Farms is constructing a 60,000-square-foot egg grading and packaging facility in Orleans. The facility will enable the company to double its egg grading capacity while improving logistics, reducing operational risks and supporting food safety and quality.
The egg expansion is expected to be completed later this year. Following its completion, River View Farms plans to add a swine breeding facility and a biosecurity vehicle wash to support growth and strengthen safeguards across its swine operations.
Together, the projects will expand the company’s agricultural production capabilities while creating jobs across its egg and swine businesses.
Orange County Expansion Supports Rural Economic Growth
River View Farms’ investment will extend beyond its own operations. Increased production is expected to generate additional opportunities for area growers and increase the company’s purchases of locally grown grain.
Braun said the expansion will create jobs in the Indiana Uplands region, strengthen the rural economy and support Indiana’s agricultural sector.
The company has been headquartered in Orleans since its founders purchased the original farmstead in 1920. Its continued expansion reflects a longstanding connection between the family business and the surrounding community.
“The farm and family are deeply connected to Orleans, so we are very proud to invest in the area to help support the community through growing job opportunities and economic development,” said Bryan Johnson, president of River View Farms.
Johnson said the expansion will support the company’s food production mission while helping make the community a better place to live and work for future generations.
Building on Indiana’s Agricultural Economy
River View Farms operates a diversified agricultural business spanning hog, egg, pullet and crop production. In addition to its Orleans operations, the company operates an egg processing facility in Washington, Indiana, and employs more than 200 people statewide.
According to figures included in the state’s announcement, Indiana’s agricultural industry supports more than 53,500 farms and contributes $35.1 billion annually to the state economy. Indiana also recorded $6.35 billion in agricultural exports in 2023.
Indiana Secretary of Commerce Chuck Goodrich highlighted River View Farms’ role in the state’s entrepreneurial economy and its continued contributions to careers and economic development in Orange County.
The expansion will build on that legacy, increasing food production capacity while supporting employment and agricultural suppliers throughout the region.
