DeForest, WI — Alberta, Canada-based The Little Potato Company recently announced plans to create a U.S. headquarters in DeForest, Wis. with a $20 million, 130,000-square-foot facility.
The company plans to hire 129 new full-time employees beginning in early 2017 to staff the new facility, which was made possible with the help of $740,000 in Business Development Tax Credits from WEDC and additional funding from the Village of DeForest.
Little Potato considered locations in Michigan and Illinois before choosing Wisconsin for its major transportation and logistics networks and the availability of skilled workers. The site was also pre-certified as development-ready through WEDC’s Certified In Wisconsin® Program.
“By locating its U.S. headquarters in DeForest, The Little Potato Company leverages Wisconsin’s strong agricultural history and global leadership in advanced food processing, tapping exceptional educational resources and an unmatched supply chain,” said Mark Hogan, secretary and CEO of WEDC.
