The EDC of Weslaco announces the arrival of Johnson Controls and the creation of more than 100 new jobs to the “City on the Grow.”
The EDC has scheduled a Meet & Greet event, Thursday, June 16, 2022, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. EDC staff and the City of Weslaco hope to introduce Johnson Controls administrators to the many services and resources available to their company.
Johnson Controls offers the world’s largest portfolio of building products, technologies, software, and services including HVAC equipment, security, fire detection, energy management, and OpenBlue, an AI-enabled suite of connected solutions and services.
The company employs over 100,000 people, with operations in over 2,000 locations world-wide, across 6 continents. The company will be occupying a 123,000 sq. ft. building, located at 1705 E. Haggar St. in Weslaco, Texas. Modifications to the warehouse included finish out improvements such as offices, conference room space, storage and restroom facilities equaling approximately 2,400 sq. ft.
The company’s initial investment in Weslaco is approximately $5.5M, which includes IT infrastructure, racking, bonded warehouse, production area, office furniture and equipment.
The Weslaco site will include a light assembly production area and will be a distribution center for items like security camera systems, video, audio, fire detectors, alarm panels and controls, and thermostats. The company has provided the EDC with a list of more than 100 new jobs with competitive wages and benefits.
