CLINTON, Miss. — City leaders in Clinton have confirmed plans for a $750 million data center development at Clinton Industrial Park, a project expected to become the largest economic development investment in the history of both the city and Hinds County.
Clinton Mayor Will Purdie said the development represents a transformational opportunity for the community, bringing significant long-term economic impact and new tax revenue to the region.
“This will be the largest economic development project in the history of the City of Clinton and Hinds County,” said Purdie. “The revenues generated from this project will allow us to continue strengthening our community, investing in infrastructure and supporting our schools.”
The proposed facility will be located within Clinton Industrial Park, utilizing an existing industrial site that city officials say is well suited for a large-scale technology investment. The development is expected to significantly expand the local tax base while positioning Clinton as an emerging hub for digital infrastructure.
Data centers play a critical role in supporting cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and global digital services, making them a growing focus for economic development across the United States.
Local leaders say the Clinton project could create dozens of high-skilled technology and operations jobs while delivering substantial annual tax revenue for the city, Hinds County, and the Clinton Public School District.
While final approvals and agreements are still being completed, city officials believe the project represents a major milestone in Clinton’s economic growth strategy and will further strengthen the region’s competitiveness for future technology investments.
If completed as planned, the development would mark the largest private capital investment ever announced for the City of Clinton and Hinds County, signaling a new era of economic opportunity for the community.
