COLUMBUS, Miss. — Global automotive technology leader PACCAR celebrated the grand opening and ribbon cutting of its expanded manufacturing operations in Columbus, marking the completion of a $209.4 million investmentthat will create 100 new jobs in Mississippi’s Golden Triangle region.
Governor Tate Reeves joined company executives, state and local officials, and regional partners to commemorate the milestone and highlight PACCAR’s continued commitment to advanced manufacturing growth in Mississippi.
The expansion includes a 50,000-square-foot addition to PACCAR’s existing engine manufacturing facility. The new space will support engine remanufacturing operations and ultra-clean engine production, reinforcing the company’s long-term strategy to enhance sustainability and meet evolving emissions standards.
Since launching operations in Columbus in 2010, PACCAR has produced more than 350,000 PACCAR MX engines, establishing the facility as a critical component of the company’s North American manufacturing network.
Leadership Perspectives
“For more than 16 years, PACCAR has produced world-class diesel engines in Columbus,” said Governor Tate Reeves. “The company’s $209 million investment in remanufacturing operations represents a full-circle moment for this project and will create 100 high-quality jobs that position PACCAR for the next generation of diesel engine standards. Investments like this demonstrate the strength of Mississippi’s workforce and manufacturing sector.”
Todd Wells, Plant Manager of PACCAR Engine Company, emphasized the importance of the partnership with the state and region.
“The state, communities, and people of Mississippi have been exceptional business partners for PACCAR,” Wells said. “This new engine remanufacturing center will allow us to expand that partnership while delivering environmental benefits and providing Kenworth and Peterbilt truck owners with cost-effective solutions to extend the life of their vehicles through high-quality remanufactured engines.”
Regional leaders also underscored the project’s significance to the Golden Triangle economy.
“PACCAR has been a valued partner in our region for many years, and we are proud to celebrate this expansion and the opportunities it brings,” said Meryl Fisackerly, Chief Operating Officer of Golden Triangle Development LINK.
The expansion further strengthens the Golden Triangle’s position as a leading hub for advanced manufacturing investment in the Southeast.
