New 120,000-square-foot facility will expand electrical manufacturing operations in McNairy County
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — November 6, 2026 — ABB will invest $50 million and create 227 new jobs as it relocates and expands its Industrial Connections & Solutions operations in Selmer, Tennessee.
The McNairy County project includes a new 120,000-square-foot facility at the Selmer/McNairy Industrial Park. The operation will manufacture and distribute busway and bus plug systems, along with other electrical products.
Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee, Deputy Gov. and Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Stuart C. McWhorter, and ABB officials announced the expansion.
ABB Expands Manufacturing at Selmer/McNairy Industrial Park
ABB will move its Industrial Connections & Solutions operations from the company’s existing 4th Street location to the new facility. The building will sit alongside ABB’s recently completed 325,000-square-foot manufacturing facility at the industrial park.
The site received TNECD Site Development Grants in 2022 and 2024, helping prepare it for industrial investment.
“We are pleased to expand the footprint of our Selmer factory in McNairy County, Tennessee,” said Adrian Guggisberg, distribution solutions president at ABB. “The U.S. is a critical market for ABB, and today’s announcement strengthens our local-for-local strategy while it will enable us to meet our customers’ demands in this fast-paced and growing market.”
Second Selmer Investment Builds on 2025 Announcement
The project marks ABB’s second expansion announcement in Selmer since 2025.
Last year, ABB announced a $100 million investment and more than 50 new jobs associated with its 325,000-square-foot manufacturing facility at the Selmer/McNairy Industrial Park.
ABB plans to begin moving approximately 90% of its equipment and employees to that facility during the first half of 2027. The remaining equipment and employees will relocate to the newly announced 120,000-square-foot facility during the second half of 2027.
Together, the two announcements represent $150 million in investment in Selmer.
Tennessee Workforce to Exceed 1,500 Employees
Following the latest expansion, ABB will employ more than 1,500 people across five Tennessee locations.
Gov. Lee highlighted the investment’s potential to create lasting opportunities for families in Southwest Tennessee. McWhorter credited local leaders’ focus on site development and long-term planning with helping position the community for continued business growth.
McNairy County Mayor Anthony Knight said ABB’s decision reflects the quality of the local workforce and the partnership between the company, county, town and economic development organizations.
Selmer Mayor John Smith also recognized ABB’s longstanding connection to the community and its continued investment in local employment opportunities.
Regional Partners Support ABB’s Growth
Partners supporting the project include the Town of Selmer, McNairy County, the Selmer/McNairy County Industrial Development Board, TNECD, TVA and Pickwick Electric Cooperative.
TVA Vice President of Economic Development Heidi Smith said the organizations share a commitment to supporting ABB’s continued success and economic growth throughout the region.
