BIRMINGHAM, AL (October 22, 2025) — SmartWiz, a fast-growing artificial intelligence (AI) tax software company, announced plans to expand its Birmingham headquarters, investing in new operations that will create 66 high-paying technology jobs.
Founded in 2021 by a team of tech entrepreneurs and tax professionals, SmartWiz has quickly grown into one of only 16 IRS-approved tax software providers worldwide. The company’s AI-driven platform streamlines complex tax preparation and compliance for accounting firms and professionals nationwide.
“SmartWiz’s decision to grow in Birmingham reinforces that Alabama has the talent, resources, and supportive business climate that innovative companies need to succeed,” said Alabama Commerce Secretary Ellen McNair.
SmartWiz currently operates from Innovation Depot, Birmingham’s leading startup incubator. The company’s expansion marks a major milestone in its growth trajectory—from 10 employees to more than 75—and highlights Birmingham’s position as an emerging tech and AI innovation hub in the Southeast.
