Audi’s first U.S. manufacturing plant will produce premium SUVs at the Middle Georgia Megasite in Peach County.
ATLANTA, Ga. — Audi AG plans to invest approximately $4 billion to establish its first U.S. manufacturing facility at the Middle Georgia Megasite in Peach County, creating approximately 4,500 jobs.
The German automaker announced the project with Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp on October 24. Audi expects to begin grading the site in 2027, start construction in 2028 and reach full production in 2031. The facility is planned to have an annual production capacity of 200,000 vehicles.
The plant will manufacture premium SUVs tailored to North American customers, bringing production closer to one of Audi’s key markets. The company said the facility will be designed for efficiency and flexibility as customer needs and market demand evolve.
“We have much greater ambitions for Audi in America, and Georgia will play a central role in making them a reality,” said Gernot Döllner, CEO and chairman of the board of management of Audi AG. “With its strong business environment, skilled workforce, and shared ambition, the state is an ideal partner for Audi.”
Middle Georgia Megasite Lands Major Automotive Investment
The Middle Georgia Megasite was developed and marketed by the Development Authority of Peach County and the Mid-Georgia Gateway Joint Development Authority, a regional partnership among Peach, Houston and Macon-Bibb counties.
Audi cited the site’s speed to market, available workforce, access to customers and proximity to an established automotive supply chain among the factors in its decision. Industrial utilities are adjacent to the property, and extensive site due diligence has already been completed.
Gov. Kemp said the state’s investment in preparing the megasite helped position Middle Georgia to attract a major automotive manufacturer.
“We are proud that Audi has selected Georgia as the home of their first U.S. manufacturing facility, delivering truly historic investment and jobs to middle Georgia,” Kemp said.
Roy Lewis, chairman of the Mid-Georgia Gateway JDA and the Peach County Board of Commissioners, said the project advances the region’s vision for the site and its goal of building a more resilient economy.
Workforce Training to Support Audi’s Georgia Plant
Georgia Quick Start will work with Audi to develop customized training and design a dedicated training facility. The program will also partner with local Technical College System of Georgia campuses to begin employee instruction while the training facility is under construction.
The collaboration is intended to prepare workers for the skills needed at the new manufacturing plant and support long-term workforce development across the region.
“Audi’s decision to establish its first U.S. manufacturing facility in Georgia is a historic milestone for our state and a transformational opportunity for Middle Georgia,” said Georgia Department of Economic Development Commissioner Pat Wilson.
Rail and Port Access Connect Peach County to Global Markets
The Middle Georgia Megasite offers access to Norfolk Southern Class I rail, with rail connections to the Port of Savannah and the Port of Brunswick. The site is also approximately 90 minutes by car from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, with two regional airports within 25 minutes.
The project adds to Georgia’s automotive manufacturing presence and underscores the importance of prepared industrial sites, transportation infrastructure and regional partnerships in attracting large-scale investment.
