New 88,000-square-foot building will support at least 80 jobs averaging $82,000 annually
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (August 14, 2026) – Brasfield & Gorrie has broken ground on a $65 million expansion of its national headquarters in Birmingham, reinforcing the construction company’s long-term commitment to its Alabama home.
The project includes a four-story, 88,000-square-foot building in the city’s Lakeview District. The new space will support at least 80 full-time positions with an average annual salary of $82,000. Brasfield & Gorrie expects to complete the project during the first quarter of 2028.
Headquarters Expansion Adds Office and Training Space
The new building will provide additional offices, conference rooms and training facilities for Brasfield & Gorrie employees and business partners.
The company also recently completed an expansion of its headquarters parking deck, adding a fourth level to accommodate continued workforce growth.
“Birmingham has been home to this company for over 60 years, and that’s not something we take lightly,” said Brasfield & Gorrie CEO Rob Blalock.
Blalock said the expansion represents an investment in Birmingham’s future, the company’s workforce and an environment where employees can build lasting careers.
Brasfield & Gorrie Continues Alabama Employment Growth
Brasfield & Gorrie employs approximately 1,800 people across Alabama and more than 5,000 workers companywide. The company operates 13 offices in eight states and has added more than 600 Alabama jobs during the past five years.
The Birmingham-based contractor has invested more than $100 million in its headquarters campus over the past several years. In 2025, it completed a three-story, 28,500-square-foot headquarters addition supporting 85 jobs.
The latest project continues the company’s expansion in the Lakeview District while increasing its capacity to recruit and develop the next generation of construction and corporate talent.
Project Strengthens Birmingham’s Business Community
Alabama Secretary of Commerce Ellen McNair said the company’s continued investment reflects confidence in Birmingham and its workforce.
The expansion will create high-quality employment opportunities, strengthen one of Alabama’s homegrown companies and help attract and train new talent, McNair said in the Alabama Department of Commerce announcement.
Birmingham Business Alliance President and CEO Steve Ammons said the project demonstrates how established employers and public-sector partners can work together to generate investment, employment and long-term community growth.
“Brasfield & Gorrie’s expansion is a great example of that partnership,” Ammons said.
Birmingham Headquarters Remains Central to National Growth
Founded in 1964, Brasfield & Gorrie has grown from a local contractor into one of the nation’s largest privately held construction companies.
The company provides general contracting, design-build and construction management services across markets including:
