MONTGOMERY, Ala. (Mar. 2, 2026) — Automotive supplier DAS North America has announced plans for a $77.6 million expansion of its Montgomery operations, a project expected to create 100 new jobs and further strengthen the Capital Region’s position as one of Alabama’s fastest-growing economic markets.
Construction on the expansion is scheduled for completion by early 2027, with phased operations beginning later that year and full production anticipated by 2028.
Founded in Montgomery in 2012, DAS North America currently employs approximately 500 workers locally. Upon completion of the expansion, the company’s total investment in the region will reach nearly $235.8 million, underscoring its long-term commitment to Montgomery and Central Alabama.
“We are proud to expand our presence in Montgomery and strengthen our partnership with the State of Alabama and the local community,” said Sean Kim, COO of DAS North America. “This investment reflects our confidence in the region’s workforce and business environment.”
Expansion Builds on Record Economic Momentum
The announcement follows the release of Governor Kay Ivey’s 2025 New & Expanding Industry Report, which documented the highest annual investment total in Alabama history.
Within that statewide performance, Montgomery ranked among Alabama’s top-performing markets:
- No. 2 statewide for capital investment among existing industry
- No. 2 statewide for job creation among existing industry
- No. 3 statewide for total capital investment, reaching $1.2 billion
- No. 4 statewide for total job creation, with 500 new jobs
Notably, more than $1.1 billion — over 90% — of Montgomery’s 2025 capital investment came from existing employers reinvesting in local operations, highlighting strong business retention and sustained employer confidence.
DAS North America’s expansion exemplifies this trend, reinforcing Montgomery’s reputation as a competitive environment for long-term corporate growth.
“These numbers reflect more than strong annual performance — they represent sustained confidence in Montgomery as a place to invest and grow,” said Anna Buckalew, President and CEO of the Montgomery Regional Chamber. “When global employers continue to reinvest at this scale, it validates our workforce, infrastructure, and business climate. DAS’s expansion is another clear signal that our region is competitive, collaborative, and positioned for long-term success.”
Advancing Montgomery’s Manufacturing Ecosystem
The project further strengthens Montgomery’s role as a regional hub for:
- Advanced manufacturing
- Automotive and mobility supply chains
- Data infrastructure and technology
- Logistics and distribution operations
Local and state leaders note that continued collaboration between industry partners, government agencies, and economic development organizations has positioned Montgomery for sustained growth across the Southeast.
