Governor Phil Murphy Celebrates $50M Investment and Launch of World’s First FCCM™ Platform
Hopewell, NJ — September 4, 2025 — Enzene, a global leader in biopharmaceutical development and manufacturing, has officially opened its first U.S. facility in Hopewell, New Jersey. The 80,000-square-foot site marks a major milestone in the company’s international expansion and introduces the world’s first fully-connected continuous manufacturing™ (FCCM™) platform to the U.S. market.
Governor Phil Murphy joined Enzene executives and state officials to inaugurate the facility, which represents a $50 million investment and is expected to create hundreds of high-skill jobs. The site will support fed-batch drug substance manufacturing and deploy Enzene’s proprietary EnzeneX™ 2.0 platform—a modular, scalable system that delivers up to 10x the yield of conventional biomanufacturing and reduces cost of goods sold (COGS) to as low as $40 per gram.
“Enzene’s decision to launch its first U.S. manufacturing base in New Jersey reflects our state’s strength as a global hub for innovation,” said Governor Murphy. “This facility represents the future of advanced manufacturing and deepens the cultural and economic ties between New Jersey and India.”
Headquartered in Pune, India, Enzene is a continuously innovative development and manufacturing organization (CIDMO) that provides end-to-end CDMO services across discovery, development, and commercial supply.
The Hopewell facility complements its global footprint and reinforces supply chain resilience for biopharmaceutical innovators across North America.
“We’re proud to bring our expertise to the U.S. and contribute to the advancement of biologics manufacturing,” said Dr. Himanshu Gadgil, CEO of Enzene. “Our technology offers a cost-efficient, high-yield solution that supports global supply strategies and accelerates access to life-saving therapies.”
“This expansion reflects Enzene’s commitment to sustainability, scalability, and equitable access for early-stage biologics developers,” added Sandeep Singh, Chairman of the Board at Enzene and Managing Director of Alkem Laboratories.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by First Lady Tammy Murphy, Hopewell Township Mayor Courtney Peters-Manning, and representatives from the offices of Senator Andy Kim and Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman.
