ELLABELL, Ga. (November 6, 2025) — Governor Brian Kemp joined Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) President and CEO Tony Heo and other state and local leaders to celebrate the grand opening of the Hyundai Mobility Training Center of Georgia — an 89,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art workforce development facility dedicated to training the next generation of electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing professionals.
Located adjacent to Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America in Bryan County, this groundbreaking facility is the first training center in Georgia focused exclusively on EV and hybrid vehicle manufacturing. Operated by Georgia Quick Start, part of the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG), the center sets a new standard for workforce innovation and technical training.
Empowering Georgia’s Workforce for the EV Era
“With record-breaking economic development statewide, our focus has never wavered from bringing quality jobs to hardworking Georgians and connecting them to the skills needed for success,” said Governor Brian Kemp. “The Hyundai Mobility Training Center of Georgia will give thousands of people the knowledge they need to benefit from this generational project.”
Hyundai’s historic investment in Georgia will create approximately 8,500 jobs by 2031, with the new training center capable of preparing up to 824 individuals at a time for high-tech roles in EV and hybrid vehicle production.
“As we expand production at HMGMA, one of the most advanced facilities in the world, we need a workforce equipped with next-generation skills,” said José Muñoz, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company. “Our partnership with Georgia Quick Start ensures our team members have access to world-class training that will help them succeed — and help Georgia lead in advanced manufacturing.”
Cutting-Edge Learning Environments Drive Innovation
Designed in close collaboration with Hyundai engineers and Quick Start experts, the training center mirrors the processes and technologies used at HMGMA. Key features include:
- STEP Line (Safe Transition for Efficient Production): A digital, interactive environment where trainees develop timing, awareness, and coordination.
- IMPACT Line (Immersive Manufacturing Process and Conveyor Training): A full-length, moving production line with 53 assembly activities and integrated quality checks replicating real EV manufacturing.
- High Voltage Battery and Safety Lab: Hands-on experience with the complex systems that power electric and hybrid vehicles.
- VR Experience Lab: Virtual simulations for safety and hazard identification training.
Automation & Mechatronics Lab: Focused on programmable logic controllers (PLCs), motion systems, and industrial automation.
Additional facilities include a robotics lab, paint and welding labs, six flexible classrooms, and the 5,764-square-foot “Momentum Room” for multipurpose training and collaboration.
“Our subject matter experts partnered directly with HMGMA to learn the precise skills its workforce will need when they step onto the production floor,” said Scott McMurray, Deputy Commissioner of Georgia Quick Start. “We’ve recreated real-world processes in a safe, high-tech learning environment.”
Building Georgia’s Future Mobility Workforce
“The Hyundai Mobility Training Center is about giving Georgians the tools to build their own futures — right here at home,” said Greg Dozier, Commissioner of the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG). “It reflects Georgia’s commitment to innovation, accessibility, and long-term opportunity.”
Tony Heo, President and CEO of HMGMA, called the opening “a proud milestone” for the partnership between Hyundai and the state:
“This training center gives us the confidence that we’ll have the highly skilled talent needed to shape the future of mobility and American manufacturing — right here in Southeast Georgia.”
A Global Commitment to Workforce Excellence
The Hyundai Mobility Training Center of Georgia represents a cornerstone of the state’s broader strategy to advance EV manufacturing, strengthen workforce readiness, and attract global investment. As Hyundai expands production to include hybrid vehicles, the flexible design of the facility will allow training programs to evolve alongside the company’s technological advancements.
The center underscores Georgia’s position as a national leader in advanced manufacturing and electric mobility, driving economic growth while preparing workers for the industries of tomorrow.
