Ely, Fallon, Wells, Elko, Esmeralda, Lincoln and Nye receive funding
Governor Joe Lombardo announced that $3,071,498 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds, administered by the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development, have been awarded to seven projects in rural Nevada.
Nevada’s CDBG-awarded projects for 2025 include:
- $199,050 for the construction of the 7th Street Drainage Upgrade Project in the City of Ely
- $225,609 for the construction of a walking pathway in the Laura Mills Park Project in the City of Fallon
- $577,689 for the completion of the Shoshone Ave Sidewalk Project in the City of Wells
- $55,820 for the Tuscarora Water Tank Design Project in Elko County
- $398,330 for the Goldfield Community Center Water Upgrade Project in Esmeralda County
- $450,000 for the construction of the Gold Point Fire Station Project in Esmeralda County
- $900,000 for the completion of the Pioche Airport Road Project in Lincoln County
- $265,000 for the Carvers Arena Revitalization Project in Nye County
“Investing in Nevada’s rural communities is crucial for crafting a stronger and more resilient state,” said Governor Lombardo. “These investments are more than just funding. They are about creating meaningful jobs, strengthening local economies, and ensuring the long-term success of Nevada’s rural areas and their residents.”
Nevada counties and cities invested an additional $1,014,995 in matching funds for the projects.
“CDBG plays a big role in nurturing rural economic and community development across our state,” said Jessica Sanders, CDBG Program Administrator at the Governor’s Office of Economic Development. “We’re delighted to see these funds go towards so many great projects and the positive impacts they’ll bring to each of these areas for years to come.”
Since 1982, when the State began administration of the program, over $110 million has been awarded to rural Nevada communities. The CDBG program enables local governments to undertake a wide range of activities intended to create suitable living environments, provide affordable housing, and create economic opportunities, primarily for people of low and moderate income. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development oversees the program, and the Rural Community Development Division of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development administers the program for the State of Nevada.
