Secures Nearly $200 Million in Economic Development for Michigan
LANSING, MI — September 11, 2025 — Governor Gretchen Whitmer has successfully concluded a high-impact international investment mission to Singapore, Japan, and Germany, resulting in nearly $200 million in new investment, the creation of 800 new jobs, and the retention of 175 existing positions across Michigan. The mission, supported by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and the Michigan Economic Development Foundation, reinforced Michigan’s global reputation as a premier destination for innovation, advanced manufacturing, and clean energy development.
Throughout the mission, Governor Whitmer and the Team Michigan delegation met with government officials, business leaders, and industry stakeholders to deepen economic partnerships and promote Michigan’s strengths in mobility, technology, defense, and aerospace.
“When we engage directly with our partners abroad, we secure investments that create good-paying jobs, grow our advanced industries, and strengthen Michigan’s economic future,” said Governor Whitmer. “Especially in times of global uncertainty, Michigan must lead by opening doors, building trust, and showcasing why there’s no better place to do business than right here in our state.”
“This mission underscored that Michigan’s story resonates globally,” added Quentin L. Messer, Jr., CEO of MEDC. “We offer a strong business environment, a future-ready workforce, and a proven ability to deliver wins for communities across the state.”
