German Energy Technology Manufacturer Invests $1.5 Million in North Charleston Facility, Creating 30 Jobs
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — August 13, 2026 — IEB Americas, Inc. is establishing its first major production operation in North America in Charleston County, bringing the German manufacturer’s battery charging and power supply technologies closer to customers throughout the U.S. and broader North and South American markets.
The company is investing $1.5 million in a new North Charleston operation that will create 30 jobs.
Located at 4100 Carolina Commerce Parkway, the facility is being developed as IEB Americas’ North American hub for production, warehousing, service and training. The company will assemble and test its battery charging and power supply products at the facility while also managing inventory and providing technical and customer support.
With operations already underway, the investment represents a significant step in IEB’s North American growth strategy and strengthens the company’s ability to serve customers from a U.S.-based manufacturing and service platform.
Expanding IEB’s North American Footprint
IEB Americas is a subsidiary of Industrie Elektronik Brilon GmbH (IEB), a Germany-based manufacturer specializing in industrial battery charging systems and charging technologies.
Founded in 1980 and headquartered in Brilon, Germany, IEB has built its business around energy systems and charging technologies for industrial applications. The Charleston County operation provides the company with a strategic U.S. location from which to expand manufacturing, distribution and customer support capabilities.
The new facility will allow IEB Americas to bring production closer to its North American customer base while providing greater flexibility in inventory management, service and training.
“We are proud to open a new chapter in the IEB success story with our new facility in South Carolina: IEB systems made in America,” said IEB CEO Stefan Fiedler. “We are bringing our leading energy systems and charging technologies directly to the U.S. market — delivering innovation, closer customer proximity and tailored solutions at a new level: local, flexible and with a clear focus on the future.”
Charleston Positioned for Advanced Manufacturing Growth
IEB’s decision adds another international manufacturer to the Charleston region’s growing industrial base.
The company cited the region’s workforce and logistics capabilities as important factors in supporting its North American growth. Charleston’s established manufacturing infrastructure and global transportation network provide access to domestic and international markets while supporting the company’s production and distribution requirements.
“IEB Americas’ decision to select Charleston County for its first-ever production center in North America underscores how our area continues to be a strong, competitive location for businesses to expand and grow operations,” said Charleston County Council Chairman Joe Boykin. “We are honored to welcome IEB Americas and look forward to the additional power-production capabilities this investment brings to our community.”
The project also reinforces Charleston’s emerging role in industries connected to e-mobility, industrial technology and warehouse operations.
“IEB’s decision to locate its next manufacturing facility in Charleston County highlights the region’s growing role in supporting the e-mobility and warehouse industries,” said Will Russell, Board Chairman of the Charleston Regional Development Alliance. “With access to a skilled workforce and a world-class logistics network, Charleston continues to attract innovative international manufacturers seeking long-term growth in the U.S. market.”
