Investment will strengthen ACUVUE® contact lens manufacturing, packaging and distribution operations while supporting 3,500 Jacksonville employees
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (June 15, 2026) — Johnson & Johnson announced plans to invest more than $1 billion in Jacksonville, Florida, to expand and strengthen its U.S. Vision operations, including advanced manufacturing and packaging technologies and a new state-of-the-art distribution facility.
The major investment will support the company’s ACUVUE® brand contact lens operations, enhance supply chain resilience and increase capacity to meet growing demand for vision care products serving more than 40 million patients in the U.S. and around the world.
The project is part of Johnson & Johnson’s previously announced $55 billion commitment to U.S. manufacturing, research and development, and technology through early 2029. Construction is already underway, with the new facility expected to be fully operational in 2028.
Strengthening U.S. Vision Care Manufacturing
The Jacksonville investment will expand Johnson & Johnson’s domestic manufacturing, packaging and distribution capabilities for its market-leading ACUVUE® contact lenses. The company currently manufactures more than 1.7 billion ACUVUE® contact lenses annually for U.S. patients.

Johnson & Johnson has operated in Jacksonville for more than 40 years, establishing the region as a key hub for vision care innovation and advanced manufacturing. Since first locating in Jacksonville in 1981, the company has grown to occupy more than 1.5 million square feet of manufacturing, research, distribution and operations space.
The expansion further strengthens Northeast Florida’s position as a competitive location for healthcare manufacturing, supply chain operations and life sciences investment.

U.S. Senator Rick Scott said the investment will help strengthen America’s healthcare supply chain and expand domestic capacity for critical healthcare products.
