Community, nonprofit, business leaders elected to LEDA Board of Directors
The Louisville Economic Development Alliance (LEDA) Board of Directors appointed Deputy Mayor Pat Mulloy as interim CEO during its first board meeting and will launch a national search for a permanent CEO.
Incorporated in early July, LEDA is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization charged with leading business expansion and attraction efforts, creating a new citywide brand, and convening partners around talent development, small business and entrepreneur development, finance and bonding, and policy analysis, research, and advocacy.
As part of its first meeting, 53 community, nonprofit, government, and business leaders were elected to LEDA’s inaugural Board of Directors. The Board is charged with hiring a permanent CEO and evaluating his or her performance, refining a governance structure for LEDA and the Board, identifying a sustainable funding model for the organization, and working with the CEO to adopt yearly measures of success and create a multi-year strategic plan.
“I want to thank each and every one of the board members – people who are leaders from across our community, across sectors – for volunteering their time to move Louisville’s economy in a new direction. This group and my administration are focused on bringing innovative, new opportunities to our city to benefit all Louisvillians, and this new organization will allow us to be more nimble and seize those opportunities when they come our way,” said Mayor Craig Greenberg.
A Search Committee comprised of LEDA board members will issue a public solicitation to engage a search firm to help attract top national talent to apply for LEDA’s CEO position. LEDA hopes to hire a permanent CEO before the end of this year.
Mulloy will continue serve as Deputy Mayor for Economic Development, and he will serve as interim CEO until a permanent CEO is hired. As interim CEO, Mulloy will take actions to further establish LEDA, including identifying potential office space for the entity and filing necessary reports and paperwork with local, state, and federal officials.
