A $3.7 Million Investment and 90 New Jobs
Electrical components manufacturer strengthens its presence in Oakland County and the Detroit region’s automotive industry
LANSING, Mich. (October 6, 2026) — Methode Electronics Inc. has relocated its headquarters and principal office presence from Chicago to Southfield, Michigan, committing $3.7 million in capital investment and planning to create at least 90 new jobs by 2030.
Announced by Governor Gretchen Whitmer, the Oakland County project establishes a centralized headquarters for the electrical components manufacturer and brings the company closer to customers across its automotive, commercial vehicle and industrial markets.
The new positions will offer a starting wage of $29.41 per hour plus benefits—nearly $5 above the regional median wage. The Michigan Strategic Fund approved a $900,000 performance-based Michigan Business Development Program grant to support the relocation.
“Today, we are investing in our auto industry by landing big projects and creating jobs for Michiganders,” said Governor Whitmer. “I’m grateful to Methode Electronics Inc. for making Michigan their new home. This announcement will create 90 new, good-paying jobs for Michiganders and build on our statewide momentum. Let’s keep working together to show that Michigan is the best place to build the future.”
Southfield Headquarters Supports Methode’s Long-Term Growth
Methode’s headquarters relocation is intended to strengthen customer collaboration and connect the company more closely with the Detroit region’s automotive network. The company plans to establish a branded headquarters that reflects its manufacturing legacy and future direction.
“Our move to Southfield is a natural next step in Methode’s transformation,” said Jon DeGaynor, president and CEO of Methode. “Being closer to our customers and the broader Detroit automotive network strengthens our ability to operate strategically, collaborate more effectively, and position the company for long-term success.”
Before the relocation, Methode employed 59 people in Michigan. Its planned addition of 90 jobs by 2030 will expand the company’s presence in the state.
Matt McCauley, senior vice president of regional development at the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, said the investment reflects Michigan’s business environment and workforce strengths while creating new opportunities for the Southfield community.
Investment Strengthens Oakland County’s Automotive and Technology Economy
Regional leaders welcomed Methode’s decision as an investment in Oakland County’s technical workforce and advanced manufacturing economy.
“Methode’s relocation of their headquarters to Southfield is a significant investment, which demonstrates the company’s confidence in our workforce,” said Oakland County Executive David Coulter. “This strategic shift toward the automotive sector strengthens Oakland County’s thriving tech ecosystem and highlights our world-class technical talent.”
Justin Robinson, president and CEO of Detroit Regional Partnership, said the relocation highlights the Detroit region’s strengths in advanced manufacturing, talent and collaboration to support business growth.
“Southfield is proud to support Methode as it establishes its global headquarters in our city,” said Southfield Mayor Kenson Siver. “This investment will bring quality jobs, strengthen our local and regional economy, and build on Southfield’s commitment to supporting business growth and innovation.”
State Rep. Samantha Steckloff also welcomed the headquarters relocation and the company’s investment in the community.
