Supporting 141 Jobs and $19 Million in Private Investment
Five business expansion projects across Minnesota will strengthen aerospace, manufacturing, medical devices and logistics operations with support from state economic development incentives.
ST. PAUL, Minn. (October 23, 2026) — The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) has announced more than $2 million in funding to support five business expansion projects across the state. The investments are expected to create or retain 141 jobs while leveraging more than $19 million in private capital investment.
The funding will support projects in Bemidji, Pine City, Le Sueur County, Coon Rapids and Shakopee, helping businesses expand manufacturing capacity, upgrade facilities and create new employment opportunities.
The awards highlight Minnesota’s continued emphasis on business retention, industrial development and workforce growth through targeted economic development programs.
“These projects show how modest public incentives can stimulate large private investment and major overall economic benefits in communities large and small across the state,” said DEED Commissioner Matt Varilek. “Minnesota is one of the top states for business because we value and prioritize innovation, business growth and job creation with family-sustaining wages. These expansion projects will positively impact their communities for years to come.”

The Minnesota Investment Fund (MIF) provides financing for capital equipment purchases that help businesses expand operations, create jobs and retain high-quality employment. The program primarily supports industrial, manufacturing and technology-related industries.
Together, these programs provide financial resources that help qualifying businesses move forward with expansion projects while encouraging additional private investment.

The newly announced business expansions demonstrate the range of industries contributing to Minnesota’s economic development.
From aerospace manufacturing in Bemidji and industrial production in Pine City to medical device manufacturing in Coon Rapids, the projects are positioned to strengthen existing industry clusters and create opportunities for suppliers and skilled workers.
Investments in logistics infrastructure and specialized manufacturing further support the state’s ability to serve regional, national and international markets.
For communities across Minnesota, the projects represent opportunities to retain established employers, attract private capital and expand the local employment base.
The combination of public incentives and private-sector investment also underscores the importance of targeted economic development programs in supporting long-term industrial competitiveness.
DEED serves as Minnesota’s principal economic development agency, overseeing initiatives related to business recruitment, expansion and retention, workforce development, international trade and community development.
