Tire manufacturer will expand its Rome facility with advanced robotics, Cyber Tyre technology and additional production capacity
ATLANTA (September 23, 2026) — Pirelli plans to invest $1.2 billion in a multiyear expansion of its manufacturing facility in Rome, Georgia, creating 1,000 new jobs in Floyd County.
The expansion will significantly increase Pirelli’s manufacturing capacity in the United States while introducing advanced robotics and next-generation tire technologies. The company expects most hiring to begin in 2029, with the expanded facility projected to reach full operations in 2033.
“For over two decades, Pirelli has been a valued presence in our state, and I’m thankful that our efforts to grow this partnership are paying off with even more jobs for hardworking Georgians,” Gov. Brian Kemp said.
“This historic investment will expand Pirelli’s footprint with roughly five times more positions than they currently employ across the region, and we wish them continued success here in the No. 1 state for business.”
Kemp and First Lady Marty Kemp met with Pirelli executives while leading an economic development mission to Italy in 2024, helping lay the groundwork for the expansion.
Pirelli Expands Longstanding Operations in Rome
Headquartered in Italy, Pirelli established its U.S. headquarters and manufacturing facility in Rome in 2002. The company currently employs 234 Georgians through its manufacturing, innovation and headquarters operations.
Pirelli’s Georgia facility is located at 100 Pirelli Drive. The company plans to complete the expansion in two phases.
The first phase will introduce Pirelli’s latest-generation robotics equipment and advanced manufacturing technologies. A second phase will add traditional manufacturing processes and require additional hiring.
“The U.S. is one of Pirelli’s most important markets and offers significant opportunities for growth,” Pirelli North America CEO Claudio Zanardo said.
“The expansion of our Rome facility strengthens our ‘local for local’ strategy, increasing our manufacturing capacity in the U.S. while introducing the latest-generation technologies, such as the Cyber Tyre, and advanced robotics.”
Zanardo said the investment will help Pirelli respond more effectively to domestic market demand, create new jobs and strengthen the company’s presence across North America.
Expansion Will Introduce Cyber Tyre Technology and Advanced Robotics
Pirelli’s expansion will bring next-generation manufacturing capabilities to northwest Georgia, including advanced robotics and Cyber Tyre technology.
Cyber Tyre is designed to collect and communicate tire data through embedded sensor technology, supporting increasingly connected and intelligent vehicles.
The project reinforces Georgia’s growing automotive supply chain and strengthens Floyd County’s position as a center for advanced manufacturing.
“While we always enjoy news of new business and industry coming to Floyd County, it is even more meaningful when an existing industry announces an expansion,” Floyd County Commission Chairwoman Rhonda Wallace said.

“Pirelli was one of the early companies to help build Georgia’s automotive supply chain, and more than two decades later, they are continuing to believe in Georgia and invest in their future here.”
Wilson said the project will bring advanced robotics, next-generation manufacturing and connected-vehicle technologies to Georgia while building on Pirelli’s longstanding presence in the state.
