LANSING, Mich. — Saginaw Control & Engineering announced plans to expand its operations in Saginaw and Thomas Townships with a $50 million investment that will create at least 95 new jobs, reinforcing Michigan’s position as a leader in advanced manufacturing.
The project includes construction of a new 230,000-square-foot facility in Thomas Township, along with significant investments in advanced machinery and equipment to support continued growth and increased market share.
“Michigan is on the move and open for business, competing for and winning projects in next-generation industries,” said Gretchen Whitmer. “This investment will create good-paying jobs and further establish our state as a hub for cutting-edge manufacturing and innovation.”
Headquartered in Saginaw, the company has been serving the electrical industry since 1963, specializing in standard and custom-designed enclosures as well as precision sheet metal fabrication. Its operations leverage advanced technologies, including automated forming systems, fiber optic laser cutting, welding, and seamless gasket applications.
The expansion is driven by sustained growth, with the company reporting consistent year-over-year gains since 2009, including a 15% increase in 2025. The investment will support increased production capacity while maintaining a strong commitment to domestic manufacturing.
“We applaud Saginaw Control & Engineering’s decision to continue growing in its home community,” said Matt McCauley. “This expansion will create quality jobs and contribute to long-term economic prosperity across the region.”
New positions will be created across both Saginaw-area facilities, offering wages above the regional median along with comprehensive benefits, including employer-covered health insurance premiums.
“This expansion is about more than increasing capacity—it’s about investing in our people and strengthening the community that has supported us,” said Scott Baldauf. “Our continued growth reflects our commitment to U.S.-based manufacturing and long-term success in Michigan.”
Saginaw Control & Engineering serves a diverse range of industries, including robotics, agriculture, food and beverage, and data centers, providing a broad customer base that supports resilience across economic cycles.
The project is being supported by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and the Michigan Strategic Fund through a $570,000 performance-based grant. Additional local and state incentives include anticipated property tax abatements from Thomas Township and a State Education Tax abatement.
“Saginaw Control & Engineering exemplifies how strong partnerships between industry and government can drive meaningful economic growth,” said Tom Miller Jr. “This investment will strengthen the Great Lakes Bay Region’s role as a hub for advanced manufacturing and innovation.”
State officials also highlighted the broader impact of the expansion on the regional economy.
“This $50 million investment and job creation effort is a major win for Saginaw County,” said Tim Kelly. “It reflects the strength of our workforce and the continued confidence companies have in doing business here.”
