$11.5M investment brings 202 jobs to Anderson County’s growing food production cluster
EASLEY, S.C. — Global food manufacturer Signature Foods USA has selected Anderson County, South Carolina, for its first U.S. production facility. This marks a significant expansion into the American market and reinforces the Upstate’s position as a competitive hub for food processing and agribusiness.
The company’s $11.5 million investment will create 202 new jobs and establish operations at 211 Pine Road in Easley, where production is already underway.
A division of Netherlands-based Signature Foods, the company specializes in premium refrigerated prepared foods, including meats and cheeses, dips, spreads, wraps, and rolls. The new Anderson County facility will focus on producing high-quality dips and spreads for retail grocery deli sections across the U.S.
Strategic U.S. Entry Strengthens Upstate Food Manufacturing Base
The Easley operation represents Signature Foods USA’s first manufacturing footprint in the United States and serves as a strategic entry point into the North American market. Company leadership cited Anderson County’s workforce, business climate, and regional support as key drivers in the site selection process.
“After a comprehensive search, Anderson County stood out as the ideal location to launch our first U.S. operation,” said CEO Peter Dornbos. “This facility will serve as the foundation for our long-term growth in the American market.”
Workforce, Infrastructure and Incentives Align
State and local leaders emphasized South Carolina’s business-friendly environment and the Upstate region’s ability to support advanced food manufacturing operations.
The Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits tied to the project, along with a $400,000 Set-Aside grant to support building improvements and wastewater infrastructure upgrades—key components for food production operations requiring specialized utility capacity.
Governor Henry McMaster noted the broader impact of the investment, highlighting the creation of 202 jobs as a meaningful boost for Anderson County and the surrounding region.
Expanding Agribusiness Opportunities in South Carolina
The project further strengthens South Carolina’s agribusiness and food processing sector, creating new value-added opportunities for locally sourced agricultural products.
State Agriculture Commissioner Hugh Weathers emphasized the importance of the investment in connecting food production with regional agriculture, while local officials pointed to the project’s role in delivering long-term economic benefits and quality job opportunities.
Regional economic developers, including the Upstate SC Alliance, underscored the significance of attracting an international food manufacturer, noting that the project reinforces the Upstate’s competitive advantages in workforce, logistics, and market access.
