Nappanee, IN — Sullivan Group, a full-service promotional products company, announced plans to expand its operations in Nappanee, creating up to 30 new jobs by 2020.
“Indiana’s small businesses like Sullivan Group play a key role in growing the state’s economy,” said Elaine Bedel, president of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. “With nearly 500,000 small businesses operating across the state, every new Hoosier job they add creates a strong and positive impact in communities throughout the state. As we celebrate National Small Business Week, we’re thrilled to celebrate Sullivan Group’s big plans for Indiana.”
The company specializes in designing and printing custom corporate products, uniforms and apparel. After being acquired by Indianapolis-based Farwall TSG late last year, Sullivan Group plans to invest more than $700,000 to upgrade the production capabilities at its 25,000-square-foot facility in Nappanee. These upgrades will allow the company to ramp up customer service and production for its growing group of clients in the health care, music, boating and manufacturing industries.
“We are excited to partner with the state of Indiana to take our organization to the next level,” said Kerry Sullivan, founder of Sullivan Group. “Elkhart County and Nappanee have always been supportive of our growth efforts, and we look forward to continuing to be a major employer in the area.”
Sullivan Group’s news comes during National Small Business Week, which highlights the important role small businesses play in the nation’s economy. Today, there are 496,079 small businesses like Sullivan Group in Indiana, which together employ 1.2 million Hoosiers, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Sullivan Group employs 25 associates and is currently hiring for sales and customer services roles, with plans to hire for graphic design and production positions later this year. Interested applicants may apply by emailing a resume to angie@sullivangroupusa.com.
Founded in 1978, Sullivan Group is a full-service promotional product company, serving hundreds of clients with sourcing, graphic design, production and fulfillment services. With its modern screen printing and embroidery technologies, the company currently produces up to 4,000 screen printed shirts and up to 1,000 embroidered items a day, which are sold directly to its clients or through client-branded online and retail stores.
“We appreciate the state’s efforts to help us as we leverage our highly-skilled people, best-in-class technology and production capabilities for further growth,” said Scott Wallsmith, president of Sullivan Group.
With the growth of companies like Sullivan Group, Indiana’s economy is strong, with 361,100 new jobs added since the low point of the recession and 2.68 million Hoosiers currently working in the state’s private sector. Indiana’s unemployment rate is at its lowest point since 2001, with Elkhart County’s unemployment rate tied as the lowest in the state at 2.8 percent.
“The city of Nappanee is pleased to see the growth of another local company,” said Nappanee Mayor Phil Jenkins. “Sullivan Group has been part of the Nappanee community for close to 40 years, providing quality apparel and promotional items to a variety of organizations. Not only do we anticipate additional jobs for local residents, we recognize the diversity Sullivan Group brings to our economy.”
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Farwall TSG LLC, which operates Sullivan Group, up to $210,000 in conditional tax credits based on the company’s job creation plans. These incentives are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives. The city of Nappanee has also offered additional incentives at the request of the Economic Development Corporation of Elkhart County.
