Weinig Holz-Her celebrated the grand opening of its newest facility on October 30.
The company will lease 150,000 sf at the newly built Statesville Commerce Center, at 146 E. Barkley Road, Statesville, NC. This expansion not only represents a significant investment in the region but will also create 43 new jobs, contributing to the local economy and increasing wages for residents.
Headquartered in Germany with their US Headquarters in Mooresville, NC, Weinig Holz-Her is the world’s largest manufacturer of machines and systems for processing solid wood and derived timber products. The company has been operational in the US since 1974 and initially established its operations in Statesville. Subsequent expansions, however, led to the establishment of its current headquarters in Mooresville, NC. Business has continued to flourish with plans to expand its presence in Iredell County in fabrication and CNC design manufacturing.
Gregor Baumbusch (CEO of the WEINIG Group): “WEINIG has steadily grown and strongly invested in our product portfolio. The opening of the Statesville campus marks another significant milestone in our strong investment in automation and construction wood to better serve the customers and markets in North America.”
“Being able to fabricate world-class material handling equipment in Statesville is a game changer and supports our current trajectory of growth.” said Christian Smedberg, Director of Sales at Weinig Holz-Her USA. “We are excited to better support large wood processing production facilities throughout the country with state-of-the-art automation, and this expansion allows us to do so.”
“We are excited to return to and expand our operations into Statesville, NC.” Brett Reid, President of Market Unit North America for the Weinig Group, noted. “The new facility provides us with the space we need to continue growing, while its proximity to our headquarters in Mooresville ensures operational efficiency. The talented, local labor pool in Statesville aligns perfectly with our needs, and we are excited to contribute to and support the community as we continue to grow together.”
“We are thrilled to welcome Weinig Holz-Her back to Statesville with this exciting expansion,” shared Mayor Costi Kutteh. “Their decision to grow here emphasizes the strength of our local workforce and the strategic advantage Statesville offers to global businesses. This investment not only brings quality jobs but also reinforces our commitment to fostering economic development and innovation in the region.”
“Weinig Holz-Her’s expansion in Statesville is a great example of how Iredell County has been able to cultivate new investment and help create new jobs for our residents by partnering with local government and state partners,” said Chair Melissa Neader, Iredell County Board of Commissioners. “We are so pleased to see industries like this locate in Iredell County and continue to grow in Iredell County.”
