Seven infrastructure projects receive Community Development Block Grant funding to improve water, wastewater and public facilities across the state
CARSON CITY, Nev. (July 9, 2026) – Governor Joe Lombardo has announced $3,099,545 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding through the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) to support seven infrastructure and community development projects across rural Nevada.
The investments will fund critical improvements to water systems, wastewater infrastructure, public facilities and community assets, helping rural communities enhance quality of life while creating a stronger foundation for long-term economic growth.
“Strong communities start with reliable infrastructure,” said Governor Joe Lombardo. “These investments will deliver critical upgrades to water systems, public facilities, and community resources across rural Nevada. By partnering with local governments, we’re making sure communities have the tools they need to grow, attract investment, and serve residents for years to come.”

Investing in Rural Infrastructure and Economic Growth
Since Nevada assumed administration of the CDBG program in 1982, more than $110 million has been invested in rural communities throughout the state.
The federally funded program supports local governments in developing projects that:
- Improve public infrastructure
- Expand access to safe water and wastewater systems
- Enhance community facilities
- Increase affordable housing opportunities
- Promote economic development
- Improve quality of life for low- and moderate-income residents
The program is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and administered in Nevada by the Rural Community Development Division of GOED.
“We’re proud to work alongside communities across rural Nevada to ensure these CDBG dollars are invested where they’ll have the greatest local impact,” said GOED CDBG Program Administrator Jessica Sanders. “Every award represents a community’s vision for its future and our commitment to helping make that vision a reality.”
Building Stronger Communities Across Rural Nevada
Reliable infrastructure remains one of the most important drivers of community competitiveness. Investments in utilities, public facilities and transportation-ready infrastructure help rural communities attract employers, support existing businesses and create opportunities for future private-sector investment.
The 2026 CDBG awards continue Nevada’s long-standing commitment to strengthening rural communities through strategic infrastructure improvements that support sustainable economic development across the state.
