PEORIA, Ariz. – October 8, 2025 – Amkor Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: AMKR), a global leader in semiconductor packaging and test services, has broken ground on its new state-of-the-art advanced packaging and test campus in Peoria, Arizona. The groundbreaking marks a major expansion of Amkor’s investment from $2 billion to $7 billion, solidifying Arizona’s position as a national hub for semiconductor innovation.
The expanded project will include additional cleanroom capacity and a second greenfield facility, making it the first U.S.-based high-volume advanced packaging campus and a cornerstone of America’s semiconductor supply chain. Once complete, the two-phase development will include over 750,000 square feet of cleanroom space and create up to 3,000 high-quality jobs. Construction of the first facility is expected to be completed in mid-2027, with production beginning in early 2028.
“Arizona stands at the forefront of America’s semiconductor industry, and Amkor is a vital part of that leadership,” said Governor Katie Hobbs. “This facility will create thousands of good-paying jobs, strengthen our supply chain, and cement Arizona’s role as a global leader in advanced manufacturing.”
Amkor’s expanded investment is supported by the CHIPS for America Program, the Advanced Manufacturing Investment Tax Credit, and state and local partnerships. The facility will feature smart factory technologies and scalable production lines designed to serve fast-growing markets including artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, mobile communications, and automotive technology.

“This groundbreaking represents a bold step in Amkor’s long-term strategy for growth and innovation,” said Giel Rutten, Amkor President and CEO. “We’re building a facility to meet our customers’ most advanced needs, helping shape the future of semiconductor manufacturing right here in the United States.”
The new campus will complement TSMC’s wafer fabrication operations in Phoenix, creating a fully integrated, end-to-end U.S. semiconductor ecosystem that supports key customers such as Apple and NVIDIA.
“Amkor’s new Arizona facility is a defining milestone in bringing semiconductor packaging and testing capabilities back home,” said Jensen Huang, NVIDIA Founder and CEO. “Together, we are rebuilding the supply chain and securing America’s leadership in the AI century.”
“At Apple, we’re proud to support the creation of a full U.S. silicon supply chain,” said Sabih Khan, Apple Chief Operating Officer. “Amkor’s new site will package and test Apple silicon produced at TSMC Arizona — advancing our commitment to American innovation.”
State and local leaders emphasized the transformative economic impact of the project on Arizona’s high-tech corridor.
“This project will bring high-wage jobs, strengthen our economy, and ensure our supply chains are built here at home,” said Senator Ruben Gallego.
“Amkor’s investment underscores Arizona’s position as a global hub for advanced manufacturing,” added Sandra Watson, President and CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority. “This will be the largest and most advanced outsourced packaging facility in North America.”
Amkor Technology’s new Arizona campus represents a pivotal moment in strengthening domestic semiconductor capabilities, reinforcing U.S. competitiveness in advanced manufacturing while supporting the nation’s long-term technological resilience.
