New Strip District facility supports AI and software development, backed by a $10 million office build-out and growing technical workforce.
PITTSBURGH, PA (October 28, 2026) — Air, an Enterprise Readiness technology company, has opened a new 35,536-square-foot office in Pittsburgh’s Strip District, advancing its previously announced 10-year, $450 million expansion in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
The regional commitment encompasses payroll, tax revenue, employee benefits and capital investments. An initial $10 million capital investment supported the build-out of the new office, which will accommodate the company’s growing Pittsburgh technology team.
Pittsburgh Office Expansion Supports Technology Jobs
Air’s Pittsburgh workforce has grown nearly 67 percent over the past year. The new facility supports continued investment in software engineering, computer architecture and infrastructure, product development, and artificial intelligence.
“Today marks an exciting new chapter for Air as we officially open the doors to our expanded tech hub in Pittsburgh,” said Tara Murphy Dougherty, CEO of Air. “The unique combination of a highly skilled workforce, world-class academic institutions, and a vibrant technology ecosystem makes Pittsburgh an ideal engine for our AI-native platform development. We are deeply committed to investing in this community as we work to close the Readiness Gap and strive to meet immense customer demand.”
The opening builds on Air’s longstanding Pennsylvania presence and provides space for additional technical and engineering talent as the company expands its Enterprise Readiness platform.
Regional Universities Strengthen Pittsburgh Talent Pipeline
Air recruits AI engineers, data scientists and software developers from regional institutions, including Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh. Graduates of local universities currently represent approximately 30 percent of the company’s Pittsburgh workforce.
The new Strip District office strengthens Air’s connection to the region’s academic institutions and technology community while supporting work focused on national security needs.
“As a Pittsburgh native, I am incredibly proud to see our company grow in my hometown,” said Marco Corona, chief technology officer and head of Air’s Pittsburgh office. “This new facility establishes a direct pipeline between our region’s unmatched technical talent and critical national security work. We are building the future of defense technology right here in the Strip District, and we’re just getting started.”
AI-Native Platform Connects National Security Operations
Air’s Enterprise Readiness platform aligns development, production, delivery and sustainment within a coordinated execution system. The platform is designed to help national security organizations understand capacity, identify constraints, coordinate resources and respond to operational demands.
The Pittsburgh expansion supports continued platform development while deepening the company’s investment in Southwestern Pennsylvania’s technical workforce.
