Alectra celebrates the official opening of its brand-new operations centre, located at 200 Kennedy Road South in Brampton.
This state-of-the-art 215,000 square-foot facility is LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified to Gold Standard, and functions as the consolidated operations centre for more than 300 Alectra employees serving Mississauga and Brampton.
“We’re pleased to open the doors of our new operations centre in Brampton, a significant addition to our growing portfolio of LEED certified facilities,” said Brian Bentz, President and CEO, Alectra Inc. “This strategic investment will reduce our carbon footprint, promote renewable energy systems, and enhance service levels for customers in the Peel Region community.”
“I am very excited to open up the new Alectra Operations Centre”, said Mayor Patrick Brown. “Brampton is a Green City, and together with our partners, we are dedicated to building an increasingly sustainable community and increasing our resilience to climate change. “This 300 person site is also good news for the local businesses in the Kennedy Road area.”
Some of the LEED certified building features include:
- Upgraded dedicated outdoor air systems (DOAS) – reducing GHG emissions by approximately 43% beyond LEED Gold standards
- 500KW in rooftop solar power generation – over 800 MWh/year of renewable energy will help meet building power requirements
- Over 25 electric vehicle charging stations – to be installed and used by Alectra fleet vehicles, employees, and the general public
- The new building is the fifth LEED certified facility in Alectra’s portfolio of buildings, in addition to the company’s LEED Gold facilities in Vaughan and Markham, and its LEED certified facilities in Guelph and Barrie.
Additionally, Imagine Canada named Alectra a “Caring Company” for its contributions to charitable community organizations. This trustmark recognizes Alectra as a corporate leader who is helping to set the standard for community investment in Canada and further builds public recognition of our investment efforts. Alectra is also one of Corporate Knights’ Best 50 Companies, and is named a Top Employer in the Greater Toronto Area.
