The $1.8 million investment will expand the company’s space defense operations and add a mission integration center in Fairfax County.
FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — Auria Space will invest $1.8 million to establish its first East Coast headquarters in Reston, Virginia, creating 78 new jobs and expanding its presence in Northern Virginia’s aerospace and defense sector.
The new facility will bring Auria closer to government and commercial customers while complementing the company’s existing operations in Warrenton. It will also include a mission integration center where teams can develop, test, demonstrate and integrate command, control and mission capabilities for national security customers.
“Northern Virginia is rapidly becoming Auria’s largest employment footprint, making Reston the natural choice to complement our existing Warrenton operations and serve as our East Coast headquarters,” said Damian DiPippa, Auria’s chief executive officer.
Supporting Space and National Security Missions
Formed in 2024 through the merger of several national security and space technology firms, Auria provides capabilities for space operations, satellite communications, space domain awareness, missile defense and cybersecurity.
The company develops command, control and communications software, as well as satellite scheduling, mission planning and data-driven systems designed to support secure and resilient space operations. Its customers include government, commercial and international organizations.
The Reston headquarters will place Auria near federal agencies and industry partners involved in space and national security missions, including the National Reconnaissance Office, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and Missile Defense Agency.
“Auria’s decision to grow in Fairfax County reflects the strength of our region’s space and defense ecosystem, exceptional talent base, and proximity to the federal partners advancing our nation’s most critical missions,” said Jeffrey C. McKay, chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.
Virginia Partners Support Job Creation
The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority to secure the project for Virginia.
Auria’s job creation will be supported through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program, which provides consulting services and funding to help eligible companies recruit and train employees.
Gov. Abigail Spanberger said the expansion reflects confidence in Virginia’s business environment and its support for aerospace and defense companies.
“Auria’s decision to expand its presence in the Commonwealth reflects confidence in our business environment, strategic location, and our continued support of innovative aerospace and defense companies,” Spanberger said.
The Reston investment adds to Fairfax County’s network of companies developing technologies for space operations, defense and national security.
