AUGUSTA, Ga. – Sept. 24, 2025 – Aurubis AG, a leading global provider of non-ferrous metals and one of the world’s largest copper recyclers, announced today the official launch of production at its new Aurubis Richmond facility in Richmond County, Georgia.
As the first multimetal recycling plant in the United States, Aurubis Richmond is a strategic milestone for the company and for America’s industrial supply chain. The facility will recover copper, nickel, tin, and precious metals from complex recycling materials, including printed circuit boards and copper cables, helping to strengthen domestic supply for industries such as energy infrastructure, data centers, AI applications, and the defense sector.
With a total investment of $800 million, Aurubis Richmond will create more than 240 jobs in the Augusta area. The site will process up to 180,000 tonnes of complex recycling material annually, with additional expansion planned for 2026.
