$5 million manufacturing and engineering hub will establish Capture Systems’ U.S. presence in Macomb County
LANSING, Mich. (September 2, 2026) — Michigan’s defense manufacturing sector is gaining a new international investment as Capture Group Inc. establishes a U.S. manufacturing and engineering hub in Sterling Heights.
The project is expected to generate at least $5 million in capital investment and create 125 new jobs in Macomb County over the next five years.
Capture Group Inc. is the U.S. entity of Capture Systems Ltd., a defense and homeland security technology company specializing in advanced systems designed to detect, identify and neutralize unmanned aerial threats.
The company formed Capture Group Inc. in 2026 as part of its strategy to establish a permanent U.S. presence and expand its ability to serve American defense and security customers.
“Michigan is on the move and open for business, competing for and winning big projects in next-generation industries from aviation to defense,” said Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. “Today’s announcement will create 125 new good-paying jobs and help cement Michigan as the best place for cutting-edge research and development that moves our nation forward.”
Sterling Heights Facility to Support Advanced Defense Manufacturing
Capture Group’s new Sterling Heights operation will serve as a production, engineering and operations center for advanced defense technologies.
Once complete, the facility is expected to include production lines for Counter-UAS platforms, optical surveillance systems and mobile defense systems.
The site will also function as a U.S. marketing base and as a center for the development, integration and testing of counter-drone systems and remote-controlled weapon stations.
The investment further strengthens Sterling Heights and Macomb County’s role within Michigan’s established defense and aerospace manufacturing corridor.
“Michigan’s continued momentum in the defense industry is a testament to the strength of our state’s talent, innovation, and manufacturing capabilities,” said Matt McCauley, senior vice president of regional development at the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
McCauley said Capture Group’s expansion will add to Macomb County’s defense cluster while strengthening Michigan’s broader position in advanced manufacturing and defense technology.
Michigan Supports Project With $936,000 Performance-Based Grant
The Michigan Strategic Fund approved a $936,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant to support the project.
Capture Group anticipates investing at least $5 million in Sterling Heights and creating a minimum of 125 qualified jobs over five years.
Starting wages are expected to be approximately $25 per hour plus benefits.

Braun said Michigan’s engineering workforce, manufacturing expertise and business environment made the state well suited for the company’s next stage of growth.
Michigan Wins Project Over Florida and Virginia
Capture Group also evaluated locations in Florida and Virginia before selecting Sterling Heights for its new U.S. operation.
The decision adds another defense technology company to a region already home to a significant concentration of military, mobility, engineering and advanced manufacturing operations.
“Sterling Heights has built a strong reputation as one of Michigan’s most welcoming and business-friendly cities, and we are proud to welcome Capture Systems into our community,” said Sterling Heights Mayor Michael C. Taylor.
Taylor said the company’s advanced technology capabilities align well with the city’s defense ecosystem and its multi-billion-dollar defense corridor.
Luke Bonner, Sterling Heights senior economic development advisor, also highlighted the project as an example of the city’s strategy to support innovation, private investment and the expansion of advanced manufacturing companies.
Michigan Defense Corridor Continues to Attract Investment
Capture Group’s Sterling Heights investment reflects continued demand for U.S.-based production and engineering capabilities across the defense and homeland security industries.
The new operation will give Capture Systems a domestic platform for manufacturing, testing, integration and customer support while positioning the company closer to U.S. defense customers and partners.
For Michigan, the project represents another investment in advanced manufacturing and defense technology while creating new engineering and production jobs in one of the state’s most established defense industry clusters.
The Michigan Economic Development Corporation noted that investment and employment figures represent commitments made by the company to the state. Funding will be distributed as project milestones are achieved under a performance-based agreement.
