Innovative golf concept to bring family-friendly, social, and high-tech play to Golf Digest–recognized community by 2027
OPELIKA, Ala. — Chasing Aces, an innovative golf and entertainment destination, has broken ground on a new location in Opelika, Alabama, marking a major step in the company’s expansion across the Southeast. The project will introduce a new way to experience the game of golf—blending sport, social connection, and technology-powered fun in a community-focused setting.
“Golf is growing, but what’s really driving excitement is the experience around the game,” said John Dudley, CEO of Chasing Aces. “Chasing Aces is built for today’s players—families, friends, and groups who want to connect, compete, and enjoy golf in a way that’s approachable, social, and full of energy.”
Opelika Leaders Welcome New Destination for Sports and Entertainment
City leaders highlighted the project as both an economic and community win for Opelika.
“Opelika is proud to welcome Chasing Aces to our community,” said Opelika Mayor Eddie Smith. “This project represents more than just economic growth—it’s about creating a vibrant, inclusive space where families, friends, and visitors can connect through sport and entertainment. We’re excited to see this vision come to life and the positive impact it will have on our city.”
“Chasing Aces brings a fresh, dynamic concept to Opelika that aligns perfectly with our goals for innovation and community engagement,” added John Sweatman, City of Opelika Economic Development Director. “This development will not only create jobs and attract tourism, but also enhance the quality of life for our residents. We’re thrilled to support this exciting addition to our local economy.”
A New Kind of Golf Experience in Opelika
The Opelika Chasing Aces venue will feature a mix of golf, technology, and entertainment designed to appeal to players of all ages and skill levels, including:
- Technology-enhanced driving range powered by InRange, offering advanced analytics, interactive games, and real-time performance feedback.
- Social putting course designed for casual fun, group play, and friendly competition.
- Par-3 short course that delivers the thrill of on-course golf in a compact, fast-paced, and accessible layout.
Beyond traditional golf, the concept is built to function as a community hub and regional entertainment draw.
Signature Experiences and Community-Focused Programming
Chasing Aces also integrates unique sub-brands and experiences that combine philanthropy, live entertainment, and multi-sport play:
- The Hole-In-One Experience – A prize pool on each par-3 hole with proceeds benefiting local nonprofit organizations, connecting gameplay with community impact.
- Closest to the Pin Live – A streamed weekly event that merges live entertainment, competition, and digital engagement.
- Home Run Dugout™ – A baseball and softball simulation bay that complements the golf experience while adding another interactive attraction for guests.
Each Chasing Aces location is designed to serve as more than just a sports venue. It’s envisioned as a gathering place for live events, tournaments, outings, family nights, and social experiences.
“As we expand into Alabama, our focus remains on creating environments that are family-friendly, social, and community-driven,” Dudley added. “We’re excited to bring something truly unique to Opelika and look forward to becoming part of this incredible community.”
Opening Timeline and Regional Impact
Chasing Aces Opelika is expected to open in the first quarter of 2027, creating new jobs and drawing visitors from across the region.
“Opelika will have the first Chasing Aces in the State of Alabama. It is a perfect fit for this Golf Digest–recognized family community,” said Will Kadish of Broad Metro. “This project was made possible by the hard work of business-friendly city leaders. We are very thankful for their due diligence, their attendance at ICSC, and their visit to Chasing Aces’ original par-3 course in Louisiana. We own and develop real estate nationwide, and Opelika’s city leadership is simply the standard for civil service.”
