Major investment strengthens international digital connectivity and power capacity across the U.S. Southeast
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — DC BLOX, a leading provider of connected data centers and dark fiber networks across the Southeastern United States, announced plans to expand its Myrtle Beach cable landing station and data center campus, further establishing the region as a key global gateway for international subsea data traffic.
The new MYR2 facility will add capacity for up to five additional subsea cables and deliver an additional 20 megawatts (MW) of power to the site, increasing total power availability to meet rising global bandwidth demand.
Located within the Myrtle Beach International Technology and Aerospace Park (ITAP), the expansion includes the acquisition of approximately 20 acres of land adjacent to the company’s existing MYR1 cable landing station. Once complete, the combined MYR1 and MYR2 campus will be capable of supporting up to 10 subsea cables, making it one of the largest digital interconnection hubs on the U.S. East Coast.
Supporting Global Connectivity and Southeast Growth
The new capacity will complement existing and planned subsea systems such as Firmina, Anjana, and Nuvem, which already land in Myrtle Beach, enhancing the region’s status as a critical international connectivity hub.
Driven by the rapid growth of AI workloads, cloud computing, and digital transformation initiatives, the project underscores DC BLOX’s commitment to building resilient, high-capacity infrastructure that supports the expanding needs of hyperscalers, carriers, and enterprises throughout the Southeastern U.S.
“The continued growth of DC BLOX in our community reflects the vision they presented when they first invested here in 2021,” said Sandy Davis, President and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Regional Economic Development Corporation. “DC BLOX is an extraordinary company committed to delivering world-class technology infrastructure and community partnerships. We are thrilled to see them expand in Horry County and proud to be home to the largest facility of its kind on the Eastern Seaboard.”
“This expansion will position Myrtle Beach as one of the most connected destinations in North America,” said Jeff Uphues, CEO of DC BLOX. “By adding new subsea capacity and power infrastructure, we’re enabling faster, more diverse, and more resilient international network routes while supporting the digital growth of the entire Southeast region.”
A New Global Gateway for Digital Infrastructure
The MYR2 facility will feature state-of-the-art subsea landing infrastructure, robust fiber connectivity options, and direct interconnection to DC BLOX’s regional data centers and dark fiber routes throughout the Southeast.
When completed, the Myrtle Beach campus will strengthen international connectivity between the United States, Latin America, and Europe, providing essential diversity to traditional landing points such as Miami and Virginia Beach.
By distributing subsea landing sites across multiple geographies, DC BLOX enhances network resiliency, latency performance, and data security for global service providers and enterprise clients.
