Fort Smith, AR — Developers of a new Chaffee Crossing Clinic will break ground on Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. for the first healthcare facility in Chaffee Crossing. The groundbreaking ceremony will be held at 17200 Roberts Blvd., Fort Smith, Arkansas, east of the newly finished section of future I-49.
Dr. Justin Hayes of Fort Smith will be establishing the practice which will offer a full range of primary care services including on-site laboratory, X-ray, and ultrasound. Dr. Hayes plans to utilize a patient-centered medical home model as adapted by the American Academy of Family Physicians to include flexible scheduling and walk-in availability for established patients. The clinic will be staffed by two board certified family physicians and a nurse practitioner.
The 2,400-square foot building represents a capital investment of $770,000 by Chaffee Crossing Clinic, LLC. Dr. Hayes says, “Chaffee Crossing is an important location for a new medical clinic because of the medical school and industry in the vicinity, but more importantly because of the easy access to family medical care for people living in the Greenwood, Barling and Lavaca areas.”
Chaffee Crossing Clinic is projected to open in March 2016. This is the first of four health related clinics slated to begin construction at Chaffee Crossing. The others are dental, psychiatric and veterinary clinics.
Fort Chaffee Redevelopment Authority executive director Ivy Owen says the timing is right for a primary care clinic at Chaffee Crossing. “At this time, there are 13 residential developments at Chaffee Crossing that encompass more than 1,500 single- and multi-family residential units that are built, under construction or planned on property sold. As more and more families are attracted to Chaffee Crossing, the demand for health-related and commercial services is increasing. Jobs here continue to expand too, therefore the base to support healthcare businesses is present. It’s a very exciting time for our community.”
