Creating 200 High-Skill Jobs in Northern Virginia; Defense technology firm expands Virginia footprint to support cyber, space and spectrum national security missions
RICHMOND, Va. — Defense technology firm GRVTY announced plans to invest $8 million to expand its Northern Virginia operations by establishing a new headquarters in Tysons, reinforcing the region’s role as a national hub for defense innovation and advanced technology.
The Virginia-based company, which employs nearly 1,000 people, will build out more than 22,000 square feet of office space at 8270 Greensboro Drive in Tysons. The expansion will support the creation of 200 new high-skill jobs, including engineers, technologists, scientists and corporate professionals.
GRVTY specializes in solutions that address critical defense and intelligence priorities, with core capabilities focused on cyber, space and spectrum missions supporting U.S. national security.
“GRVTY’s rapid scaling is a testament to the Commonwealth’s world-class talent and our proximity to innovators, customers and decision-makers,” said Governor Abigail Spanberger. “This project will create 200 new jobs and further strengthen Northern Virginia’s leadership at the intersection of national security and advanced technology. We look forward to GRVTY’s continued success in Virginia.”
Virginia’s combination of federal proximity, specialized workforce and secure digital infrastructure continues to attract defense and intelligence-focused firms seeking locations aligned with mission-critical operations.
“Industry leaders establish headquarters in Virginia because we deliver what innovative companies value most: a deep talent pipeline, world-class infrastructure and the ability to move at speed,” said Secretary of Commerce and Trade Carrie Chenery. “We’re excited to support GRVTY as it accelerates its critical work in cyber, space and spectrum technologies.”
GRVTY CEO Katie Selbe said the new headquarters will serve as a strategic hub for the company’s continued growth.
“GRVTY is pleased to invest in Fairfax County with the opening of our new headquarters in Tysons,” Selbe said. “This facility will drive operational excellence, strengthen customer engagement and advance the development of critical national security technologies.”
Local leaders emphasized Tysons’ strategic advantages for defense-oriented technology firms.
“Fairfax County has built a strategically aligned environment for companies operating at the intersection of national security and advanced technology,” said Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairman Jeffrey C. McKay. “Our proximity to decision-makers, research institutions and a deep talent base, combined with resilient digital and physical infrastructure, makes our community a natural home for mission-driven technology companies like GRVTY.”
State and regional officials also noted the broader economic impact of the project.
“Companies like GRVTY attract world-class tech talent and help reinforce Virginia’s reputation as the top state for business,” said Senator Saddam Salim.
Delegate Holly Seibold added that Tysons’ growth strategy and federal partnerships position the region for continued success. “Our region’s talent pool, proximity to federal partners and commitment to smart growth make it an ideal location for companies like GRVTY to scale and succeed.”
The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked in collaboration with Fairfax County to secure the project. Governor Spanberger approved an $800,000 grant from the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund to support the expansion. Additional workforce training assistance will be provided through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program.
